Good Morning LL. Just a quick update. Tuffy is still struggling with all that has happened. She is so sensitive. I finally slept, or tried to, in my bed last night. I got kisses, nips, purrs and so on for over 2 hours. Then, she finally decided to jump up on the top of the bookshelves. Luckily, she did not use me as a trampoline. We have had some good play sessions and she seems more settled this morning. Nancy was so worried about her while I was in the hospital. She did not want to eat and all she did was talk, talk, talk. Finally Nancy if she sat with her and petted her she would eat.

I am progressing well. I was very fortunate in that my orthopedic physician has credentials that don’t stop and his specialty is hip/knee/leg traumatic injuries. I have a follow-up visit on Thursday to have the staples removed and an assessment of my progress. I’m told recover for this type of injury is approximately 6 months. I hope it is not that long. I am the world’s worst patient. I have been so blessed by good health and independence this is difficult emotionally for me. Thankfully the kitties are helping keep my spirits up. They no longer fear the walker and frequently walk with me. If I stop, they look at me as if to say aren’t you coming? I am not afraid they will trip me; they are very cognizant of where I am. I am able to do a few chores around the house now, including feeding the kitties, brushing them, LB and keeping the floor clean and preparing my meals. That coupled with therapy 3x a day and company my days are very full.

The swelling and bruising have migrated to my foot and ankle hopefully they will be gone soon. Tuesday, my whole leg was black, blue, purple and very swollen. It was ugly. I am taking my pain meds, Oxycontin, because I was told they will help facilitate healing. I really don’t like taking those strong drugs. I tried to adjust the dose to every 6 hours instead of 4 and got hollered at. They don’t seem to make me drowsy so I guess I’m not taking too much. I still have to inject the Lovenox, anti-coagulant, sub q in my abdomen every 24 hours. This is to prevent thrombosis. It stings.

Today I am hoping to go for a short ride and see Khoko. I’m sure he does not know what has happened and wonders where I am. Kathy said he was depressed the 3rd day I was missing so she has started grooming him daily and giving him some extra attention. He is such a people horse.

My son’s swimming season will finish shortly and he and my DIL are coming down to see me.

Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and healing vines. I check the board and read condos as I can but sitting with my leg up at the computer is difficult. I’m still in the phase where the ankle needs to be above the hip, not a sitting friendly position.

Happy Sunday to all and healing vines to all that need them.

hi barb!

Thanks for the update! I am so glad to hear your recovery is going well .. and that kitties are feeling more relaxed with you at home .. I hope your healing continues without any pain and those 6 months pass quickly! You'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayer! And remember, while it may be hard for you to sit back and let others take care of you, you cannot overdo it! That will just make your healing time that much longer ..

It's SO good to hear an update!!

Any chance you can borrow a laptop? It makes "sitting" at the computer a lot easier especially if you have a wireless connection.

Morning Barb! if anyone can recover faster than the stated 6 months, it is you. The first few weeks are the hardest, but it sounds like to are handling them very well. Keep on truckin' as they say.

Cats are amazing creatures. They know when we are hurting, they know when they need to be careful around us. They know when we need those extra kitty kisses and purrs. I have no doubt Tuffy is keeping good vigilance, watching over her bean. Good job kitties!

I do so hope you will be able to visit Khoko today. I know he misses you too.

Take care - thanks for the update!

Hi Barbara,
It is great to see this update. I know that you are on the mend, even though the next few months will be hard for an active person like you. Just take each day as it comes and then it will be behind you! Tuffy is watching over you to make sure you don't do anything drastic. Good girl!! All your fur family is doing a great job. I'm really glad that you will be able to see Khoko today. It will be good for both of you.

We are thinking good thoughts for your speedy recovery and continuing to send those healing vines.

(((Barbara))) Thanks for updating. I am sorry that you are going through all of this. It sounds like you are doing very well considering what you have been through, but I understand how frustrating and depressing it would be to have such a setback, given your very active lifestyle. I know that it is also a hard transition for Khoko and the kitties, but it sounds like they are starting to get the hang of it as well. Don't think of the six months ahead (but if you do, remember that you will be improving every day). Just take it one day at a time, and work on getting your health and normal routine back.

If you have wi-fi in your house, you might want to think of getting an iPad. It can be a little inconvenient typing long paragraphs on one, but it is great for lying down and reading. You can check you Facebook on it :-D and I use mine a lot for reading the newspaper websites.

Take care of yourself and don't push yourself too hard! All of these LL vines and snowflakes are still piling up for you.

Sending continued healing vines to you Barb! So glad to read that things are going okay and that everyone knows what's going on with you and are taking such good care of their Mama! Keep ups the good work and maybe the healing time will be less for you....Hugs!

I think about you often and hope you are doing better each day. Your attitude sounds very upbeat and I sure hope your leg heals quickly. I know if you could 'will' it to heal you'd be the one to do it faster than anyone. :-D

Tuffy loves you so much and maybe she will continue to settle down now that you are home and in the beginning stages of recovery. I'm sure there will be ups and downs but I bet mostly all positives for you. I hope the worst part is just those stinging shots you take to prevent deep vein thrombosis and that you won't have to take them for too long. Maybe you can take a photo of the black and blue bruises so you can see how you are progressing over time. I wonder if that would be a good thing to do or just a very weird thing to do...??

Sending lots of hugs to you (((Barb))).

Barb-- You are one of the Bravest, most courageous, hardest working, fastidious, energetic people that I know!! You come with sincerity, kindness, pride in all you do, and concern for everyone & everything else besides yourself..You are a good friend, loving mother and bean, a sweet & very intelligent, knowledgeable person...
If Anyone Can recover in record time, from this obstacle that has befallen you, It's You!!!
Now it is time for you to care about & take care of yourself. The kitties are trying to help, and I am glad many are there to help you...Wish I could help you more but I can be moral support..
Prayers continue for your speedy healing & recovery with all our love & good wishes..
Hugs & so much love from us!!

I couldn't have said it better myself, Roni. My thoughts exactly.

Sending you all the best and continued strong healing vines, my friend.

I hope you got to see Khoko today as I know you two miss each other like crazy and I very much know Khoko is worried about you. I will be good for you both.

Thanks for the update, seems you are making very good progress! Onward & upward!
