Hello all! Well I guess I should have checked back in sooner as he has now gone three cycles without insulin... I maybe should have asked someone before doing it. I just thought if he was below 120 for 10 cycles that he earned a reduction...

So my question is do I shoot him with .1u tomorrow? Please advise!

Re: 8/11 Tyler AMBG 115 PMBG 129 - questions...

Hi Brian, try testing Tyler about 3 hours after his PM meal to see if the number is going down. From the instructions that Julie posted to you yesterday:
If he is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!

Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. It is not unusual for cats to get lots of blue during their trial, especially at first. Don't panic and don't shoot unless we tell you to.

we've all got our fingers crossed for you!

do you have his meals spread out around the clock? that little 1 tsp bite at +9 can help bring down the numbers 3 hrs later when you're getting the ambg/pmbg.

So should I not shoot tomorrow to get him back in the green preshot numbers? I am confused at what to do here...

Re: 8/11 Tyler AMBG 115 PMBG 129 - questions...

it's up to you, brian.

are you giving him a teaspoon of food at +9? that's what i'd do first.

if you do that and you still get a blue ambg, i'd try checking at +3 and see if eating breakfast brings it down.

the ideal situation is to start the OTJ trial on a green preshot - most of the time people are able to do that. Tyler was having green preshots a couple of days ago. So . . . if you want, you could go ahead and restart the insulin and then try the OTJ trial on the next green preshot.

it's really up to you. we can't tell you what's going to happen because none of us can predict it.
