Morning LL,

WCR Sara has her uti back. I had left off a sample that I had taken because last time they were unsuccessful. It showed a lot of white blood cells and bacteria. I am picking up the AB today, don't know what it is yet. Actually I am kinda glad to hear this news because I thought her urinating out of box was telling me that she did'nt feel good. I think it would have been hard to break her of a habit.

Hope the AB does its job for your beautiful kitty, Sara.

I have a question for ya. I am still learning all the lingo here....On your SS, what does s0.5 mean? I see that your kitty's numbers are slowly trending down over time.....very cool.

Ok, I have 2 more questions for ya....I see you go to work. Do you get nervous about Sara's numbers dropping when you are not home? Her numbers seem very stable right now. Do you leave food out for her during the day?

Guess it's good to have an explanation for the peeing, but sorry about the UTI.

s0.5 - you must have terrific eyesight. : )
 
Well, sorry about that...but then again, it is the reason why she is behaving that way...
So glad you know now!

I gave her the AB when I shot her. She threw up at +2. I gave her about 10 mins and I put her food in back of the hutch where she was. She ate a little of it. But about 20 mins later she was eating her food like there was no tomorrow. I knew what that meant. Hence the 41. I'm going to take another reading now.

Poor Sara shes not feeling to well. :-|
 
Come on Sara....feel better soon.

Man, that has got to be difficult balancing her food needs, insulin intake, glucose levels and upset tummy. Sara is lucky to have such a great mom.

Did you drop off a urine sample at the vet or did the vet do a cytocentesis (needle into the bladder). The latter is the only way to get a sterile sample. While there may be an indication of an infection due to the white blood cells, that's about all a nonsterile sample will tell you. You need a sterile sample in order to get a bacterial culture and know which antibiotic will be effective.

However, on rare occasions we may run a C & S from a midstream sample that is caught in a sterile container but interpretation must take into consideration the collection method. If the C & S comes back negative on a free-catch sample, this result is helpful but if it comes back positive, you cannot be sure if the bacteria are from the bladder/kidney or from the very end of the urinary tract or the patient's hair that surrounds the vulva or penis."

Awww, poor Sara, not feeling good. I hope that the AB's work their magic on her. I hope her tummy feels better, too.
