After the weak hind episode and my temporary freak out over his lower BG level of last night (see 7/31 post) we expected higher BG this morning and sure enough he's at 253. I gave just 3.5U of Lantus, being very careful, today's going to be a nother scorching hot day on the West Coast with temps over 95 in our area. Sox spent the night in the living room took our offer of his kitty bed behind the couch and moved closer to the floor early in the morning. He's able to get around and at least wobbles to the water fountain (another concern dehydration with this heat). I called the vet and she's the only one on duty today, so waiting for her call back. Looks like Sox has a recourence of neuropathy in the hinds, which is weird. He's been so well controlled on Lantus over the last year and the glucosamine has helped with the joints (although have to admit, we slacked off a bit and only give it every other day instead of daily). Neuropathy I read only occurs with kitties whose diabetes isn't well controlled so I'm stumped at what's causing this weakness, Sox BG over the last year has been in the low to mid 100's, with an occasional 200 reading but I can count those on two hands. Sox also gets Alondronate/Fosamax once a week and I'm thinking maybe adverse reaction. He's not as sensitive to the touch of his hind this morning as last night so things are looking a bit better today. So waiting to talk to vet and then we'll see where we go from there.
