Where in the heck did July go?!?!

WCR: I just don't know what is going on with her? As far as the Ps go, we have pee, a little bit of play, and some preening. She remains aloof and mostly withdrawn. Her appy has been so-so. I'm worried and scared and feel absolutely helpless.

OT: My tooth is feeling better today?! I think my worrying over Shasta is making my body break down. I don't know. I'm hoping that there's nothing really wrong with my tooth and I'm hoping there's nothing really wrong with Shasta. :YMSIGH:

Thank you Chris & Wendy for checking in on us last night. Chris - somehow we have to keep these cats from communicating! I swear they gang up on us and it's just not nice! Wendy - Now you have me worried about anything like cat xanax. I haven't tried any of the other sprays and such you listed, but back when she was about 1 year old, my vet up in Jacksonville prescribed her something like cat xanax because she would go ballistic while traveling. I was instructed to give her 1/2 pill since we didn't know how she would react. It was horrible...eyes all glazed over, yowling, rolling around in her crate, freaking out. Absolutely never want to see her like that again. That's why I've never asked about this kind of stuff...I almost had a panic attack over her panic attack. @-) I'm ready to stick her in a muzzle and duct tape her legs together...leaving a little room to get a syringe in her leg to draw blood.

Wishing everyone a good Thursday. Special healing vines for Doogle and Jupiter and all other sick kitties. Sending comfort vines for Carl & Bob. Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

hmm. just because you had one bad drug experience doesn't mean there isn't one that would be useful.....

Shasta and I are control freak sisters.... don't want anything helping us out like a chill pill.....

Hi Deborah, so sorry to hear Shasta seems a little off lately, especially with her appy. Were you planning on a trip with the talk of kitty Xanax. Sending Shasta some feel better and appy vines, along with poo vines, too. Hope it's just an isolated incident thing. Glad your tooth is better.

Nice blue surf for Shasta today. I hope she's feeling better this evening. I hope your tooth is still better and it's nothing serious.

Good evening all ~

Well, tonight is turning out to be a mixed bag of Shasta personalities. Before I left to run errands (am+10), she was still acting very aloof and she tested at 370! But she had just finished her afternoon snack, so whatever. When I got home from running errands (am+11), she chatted with me and followed me around the house a little and when I laid down on the couch...I got this for a solid 30 minutes...made my heart happy!

Currently, she is napping between the floor and her carrier with brief munchies interrupting her nap time.

With regards to the kitty drugs and getting Shasta to the vet's for blood work...I heard back from the vet's office. Here is my vet's response:
Dr. B does not think there is a sedative pill that would be strong enough to get a blood sample here in the clinic. He would, however, be willing to try coming to your house to take the blood if you think that would work. Let us know and we will work out the schedule details if desired.

  I can't help but to laugh...it's either that or cry...profusely. :YMSIGH: I wrote back saying that I was more than willing to try a home visit. It can't be much worse than taking her to their office. I wonder if I can request that the vet come in clean, non-animal smelly clothes?! ohmygod_smile

I'll keep everyone updated. Happy Fursday!

Such a cute picture of the two of you snoozing together! :-D :-D It looks like bliss for two.

I like the idea of a vetty visit to your house. I know a friend's cat who would give Shasta a run for her money on the nasty front. Snarls and swipes at me the times I've had to feed her and a gong show at the vetty's. However, she was much better when vetty came to her house. Still required bundling up burrito style but without the trip, didn't have time to get really worked up.

The eyes glazed and yowling/rolling sounds about what we saw here with the civie and xantax. A couple drops of Pet Rescue Remedy on her food the morning before vetty visit might help chill Shasta a bit.

Aww, what a sweet picture! :-D :-D :-D Good luck with the home visit. There are mobile vets too. Stinky pinky does not look good on you, Shasta.

Hi Wendy & Liz ~ I'm trying to stay positive about the vetty home visit, but something inside of me says this won't go any better than taking her to the vet's. I just remembered how violent she became when I tried to show my friend how to give her an insulin shot (for an upcoming trip). It was horrible...total feral cat and she's never been a feral cat. nailbite_smile hissing, spitting, growling, biting, swiping, twisting. I don't even think she can be distracted with enough PureBites. My understanding with the Rescue Remedy is that they need to be exposed to it on a somewhat regular basis beforehand. Maybe that's bad information, but that was my understanding. Not that I'm opposed to trying any method!

Well, she just laid in my lap for 30 minutes and now she's on the floor...staring into the great abyss. Time for another poke.
