Good morning! I missed you all yesterday! I was so worried about the newer folks not having access to you guys. I hope everyone is OK!

Kitty's BG this morning is 61. She's still doing very well! Hooray! :thumbup

For Kitty's flea allergy dermatitis, I decided to try aloe instead of a steroid cream. I have been brushing her multiple times a day and using the flea comb on her, and she seems to be doing much better. The area near her tail was looking kind of bad, so I put some aloe on it. She was pretty ticked the first time I used it last night, but today she let me apply it without complaining. Hopefully that will soothe and heal the area. I always prefer to go the natural route first. I'll let you guys know if it works in case you ever run into the same situation.

P.S. I hope we have everything we need for this party..it's coming up sooooon!

Hi Missy!

Congrats on the OTJ trial...that's so awesome!

I'm having some similar issues with Onyx, with what my vet is calling a flea allergy. He actually diagnosed that a few weeks before the FD. What's bad is, she's an indoor cat. But he was convinced that because of the location of her digging, sratching and pulling her hair out, that it's a flea allergy. So I did the Frontline. But nothing. She hasn't stopped digging and yanking out hair hair. As of now, she's literally bald about 4 inches up her tail, about 5 inches up her spine, and across her entire abdomen. I've tried so many things to help relieve it, but most everything seems to annoy her. But, I did find a few products that you might want to look into, that did bring Onyx some relief: Virbac Humilac and Virbac ResiSOOTHE. They both have Colloidal Oatmeal, which is supposed to be very soothing. I was actually considering giving coconut oil a shot next.

Personally, I'm conviced it's not a flea allergy, but just EXTREME dandruff from the diabetes. But who knows. Either way, there's gotta be something to bring our kitties some relief.

Good luck with the rest of your trial. Onyx and I are rooting for you and Kitty!

Re: 8/1 Kitty AMBG 61 - OTJ Trial Day 12

Hi Brandi!

It could also be possible that Onyx has a food allergy instead of a flea allergy. Is this allergy new? Have you changed her diet recently?

Kitty has also pulled a lot of her hair out, and there are scabs on her neck, back and tail. I'm going to try this aloe for a few more days to see if it's helping any. I'll do some research on those products you suggested. Thanks for the info!

I hope you are coming to our party on Saturday! It's going to be a-ma-zing.

Re: 8/1 Kitty AMBG 61 - OTJ Trial Day 12

Missy - you know, the vet never even suggested a food allergy, but that's a definite possibility. I had started her on Blue Buffalo a few months ago when this got like this. Hmmm. If it suddenly clears up, I'll know it was from that. And I hear you on the scabs, Onyx has them all over where she's pulling out the hair. Makes me so sad when she starts chewing at it. I feel so helpless. Keep us posted on the aloe. I might have to try that as well if it does the trick for Kitty.

Party Saturday?????
