Hello LL!

Yesterday was our first ruh roh in our OTJ trial. Junior hit blues. Oh Junior! *hangs head*

It's been so chaotic here that I missed Sienne's note about what to do if he's higher. *hangs head again*

Today I've been researching places to take Junior for his radiation treatment for his hyperthyroidism. Our vet has seen cats needing add'l treatment when they get treated at RadioCat so she recommended another place in the suburbs. Unfortunately the Yelp reviews haven't been great and some even made my stomach turn. It doesn't sound like there are alot of good choices in Chicago so I'm considering taking him to NY to see Dr. Mark Peterson at Hypurrcat. How hard could it be to travel with a radioactive cat? :roll:

I know when I had a cat get that treatment (ages ago), I couldn't take her home until she was no longer radioactive. I think it was at least a week.

looks like u are on day 10 of trial for Junior?
would u be able to add that to your subject line, we don't wanna lose track of his trial, he's doing well from what I can see, a little blue is ok too.
have you sent CD pictures yet? :-D

According to the trial instructions, if you get blue, you'll want to feed as usual, then test in a few hours (3 to 4) to see if numbers have come back down.

What?!?! Junior is on an OTJ trial?!?!?!? How could i have not known this? Dang it, work just makes me miss out on everything!

Way to go Junior!! Even if you had some blues yesterday, its still pretty good!

Good luck researching radiotherapy, i know i looked into it when we were trying to figure out what was wrong with Leo, his vet thought he might have been hyperthyroid. I think i remember reading it was a week that you had to leave your kitty, sometimes longer, until they are no longer radioactive. How will he do without you for a week?

Um..... Those blues? Those are normal numbers. Anything below 120 is a normal BG value.

Ella/Rusty has info on Hypurrcat. They had researched the clinic for Stu.

and true on having to leave your kitty until they are no longer "radioactive". I had done this with one of mine while back - worked very well, but you do have to leave them. For us it was three days before he could come home. that was maybe 10 years ago?
