Happy Fursday and so glad to be back "home" in LL. Thank you, Donna/Doogle SO MUCH for doing the alternate board last night. I'm sure any new members who found us were glad to have some place to turn but it looked like a fairly quiet night. Sending healing vines to Doogle and Jupe and any others who need them.

Gracie and Tobey were little wild kittens last night. They chased each other all over the house, tumbled, played, and then plopped down together on the small blanket chest at the bottom of our bed. They looked so adorable but still had the glimmer of   in their little eyes. I was trying to make the bed down and put the comforter on the chest and they took off for round two. GREAT news for Gracie which I couldn't share yesterday because the board was down but her ALT came back NORMAL!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D It's been a while 10/2011) that we had a blood test that showed it as normal and the last test that was close to normal was 11/2012. After a low dose of clavamox for three months, we took her off and tested a month later and it was still 172. Then Dr. B put her on a different liver supplement and now it's in normal range again. However, when we took her in on Tuesday, she no longer tested for the liver supplement and her liver tested at a perfect 10. I"m just worried that without the supplement, her ALT will go back up nailbite_smile nailbite_smile She has never had any clinical symptoms of anything so just not sure why her ALT has been so difficult to control.

We're on the sixth cycle of the reduction and I sure wish I knew where that bounce came from yesterday. I have to think for her to bounce like that, that we missed a low number somewhere and the only place would have been between +10 on 7/30 (71) and +11.5 on 7/31 (66) but for the life of me, I cannot imagine that she went down to the 40s and back up again in 1.5 hours and we had given her a small snack. Ok...so it was a blip; it's over...she's back on track. We talked about giving "R" but decided not to because she has been clearing her bounces fast. It was a good decision.

We are going to buy a new meter today and I think we are going to go with the Relion Micro because I like the size of the meter as compared to the larger Relion Confirm and they both only require .3microliter of blood. We've been using the One Touch Ultra Mini since she was dx and we LOVE the OT. It is such an awesome meter. But it does require a lot of blood. Why the switch all of a sudden? She scratched her right ear (her best bleeding ear) where we normally test and it looks red and unhappy. Dr. B looked at it the other day and said to just keep doing what we're doing which is keeping it clean and keeping neosporin on it. So we've been testing more on her left ear which is harder to get a good drop of blood for the OT. I think also, as her right ear heals, it will be better to only need a small sample. We'll be testing the two against each other for a bit on us to see how they compare and we will probably do a test or two on her but we want to try and minimize pokes if we can. The problem is, as the right ear starts to get better, she scratches it again. It doesn't look horrible...in fact, Dr. B didn't notice it until I showed her but we're still very careful of her ears.

Hope you are all well. We missed you yesterday. I have a couple of appts back to back this morning so it will be later before I'll be around. Have a super day.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66

YAY for Gracie's liver!!! A perfect 10!!! :-D :-D She really is ready for the Olympics! Love her numbers and love the wild play with Tobey!!!! Happy Fursday, Marje!

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66

Lovely Gracie numbers as usual! Good luck on the new meter, have you considered the Up&Up from Target? It's their house branded WaveSense Presto, I use the Presto strips w/ it but it is nice to know that I can go to Target in an emergency. Strips are the same price at Target as the Relion and I can get the Presto strips on eBay for way less, I've never see the Relion/Arkray strips there. Plus it was a Consumer Reports top pick in the last comparison.

Is there any way to get links to the FB pages for FDMB and LL in one of the stickies for newbies/ If the board goes down again many of them don't know about those alternatives.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66

My day was made this morning when I flipped my FDMB calendar to August... And saw Ms. G's beautiful face staring back at me.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

So glad Gracie's ALT came back at a 10. Love to see kitties roust about. Ours don't do it anymore, too old. I sure hope the reduction holds for you.
Have a good day!

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

Me too, about the calendar page, and saw that cute little striped arm :-D

Hi Marje.
What a gorgeous day for LBG. Your home sounds like kitty paradise, with all the running, rolling, wrestling, plopping

YAAAAY on great liver results!!

I hope you like the Micro, I gave mine to my DD, and went back to the Confirm. I think I kept losing it, cuz it's so small

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

Hi Marje. So happy to read that Gracie's ALT reading is normal. We'll keep our fingers crossed that it stays in the normal range without the mess.

We use the Relion Micro. It is nice not to need a big droplet when testing.

Sending healing vines for LBG's ear. Have a great day Marje.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

Gracie, the LagoonMeister is very proud of you. And your liver values are GREAT! Keep up the good work. And, we really liked seeing your picture on the August page of the FDMB calendar. You are beautiful!

Good luck with the Relion Micro, Marje. That's the one Rusty uses. I buy the Arkray 01 Sensor strips from ADW (5 boxes for the price of 4: $69.) to use with the Relion Micro. The Arkray Sensor 01 Mini is the same meter (I have one to use as a back-up). Sorry to hear that Gracie's ear is a little ragged. Balm vines for Gracie.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

Hi Marje and Gracie - Bob and I use the Relion Micro and we like it. We use the Target up & up for back-up.

Hope little Gracie's ear heals fast.

I wish my kitties played like yours. I have one anti-social one who hides all day but when she's out they all beat each other up. Penelope and Hector are always going after each other and then BOb goes after Hector. Nobody messes with Bob though - he da man. I think they start to play but in 10 seconds it gets ugly and I have to referee. Anyway, your house sounds like alot of fun!

Have a great day!

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

Congratulations on the normal ALT. Paws crossed that she won't need that supplement anymore and can maintain her new status.

Looking  Good today....

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73

Nice report on Gracie and glad to hear her ALT values are normal. Nice green lagoon numbers today. Thanks for sending me the link to the board last evening. Good luck with your appts. and the new meter.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73 +7.5 93

That's great Gracie's ALT was normal. :-D Nice greens today. I hope her ear heals quickly.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73 +7.5 93

Lovely greens for Miss Gracie... and great on the ALT results....woot!!! :-D :-D :-D

I alternate between the Relion Prime and the Confirm. Used the Confirm for years, but switched when I could get the Prime strips for what I was paying for the Confirm/Micro strips on ADW. At least one Walmart in my area dropped the price on the Confirm strips to $11 for a 50 ct. box, so be on the lookout for price drops!

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73 +7.5 93 +10 89

Thank you all for the visits today and admiring August's lovely pic of the Principessa ;-)

I talked to Dr. B and we decided to keep Gracie on the hepatotrophin PMG supplement. I told Dr. B that perhaps she didn't test as needing it was because her ALT was normal and her liver tested 10 but as soon as we stop it, she could go back up. It's the first thing that has really worked. She said she had actually been thinking the same thing ....GMTA. So we put her back on it. It tastes yummy to her and she eats it in her food.

I bought the Micro just because it shares some features with the OT: it is plasma calibrated and uses glucose oxidase for the assay. I'm still showing her OT results on the SS; Mike and I tested both meters on us and it was almost the same on Mike and about 10 mg/dL difference on me. But we won't get hung up on this.

Re: 8/1 Gracie AMPS 81 +2 66 +4 73 +7.5 93 +10 89

Yeah for normal ALT values. Keep it there Miss August. She's looking great today.  Good luck on the new meter, I hope it gives her ears a bit of a break.

So glad the board is back - I was dreading missing another Lupita Friday.

Marje, thank for thinking about Checks and R. I wasn't sure you'd be back to his condo, to see my appreciation. :-D
