4 out of 5 P's in place this morning. I'm hoping I can get back to test Simon at lunch since he went pretty low yesterday at that time. It all depends on what is thrown at me today when I get to the office. I forgot to tell you that at Simon's vet visit on Friday, he had gained almost a pound! I am really happy about that since he is a big boy and had started losing too much weight. He is now over 15 pounds, down from his biggest weight of 19. I should get his test results back from his urinalysis sometime in the next couple of days. Will also be calling the vet today to find out about the cyclosporine for his ears.

Happy Monday!

Re: 8/1 Georgia's Simon AMPS 111

HI Georgia, Sorry I've been awol. I've been reading updates daily on Simon and Cleo but just not replying. What an awesome start for Simon.

Regarding the arthritis - when you can afford it you should get xrays. When I was reading about arthritis I don't recall seeing hock walking listed as a symptom. I probably had a filter in place filtering out what didn't apply to Maverick though. Stiffness, not wanting to crouch to eat or drink, difficulty going up the stairs, bunny hopping down the stairs etc.

We bought him a PetSafe heated bed but he wouldn't use it. I see the K&H beds offer a lot more variety than the petsafe ones. Keep your eye out for that if the AC is on at your place all the time. Dasequin is supposed to be better than cosequin. But Maverick had such issues with food I couldn't put it on his food and the pills were much too big to pill him. I was told to get the dog brand ones for larger cats. Vs giving two cat brand ones to Maverick. I guess this is a lot cheaper. I wanted to go with the adequin for him really badly. But each time we decided to do this something happened, including the last vet visit ohmygod_smile That was the key reason for the vet visit was to finally start treating his arthritis. It does help with bladder issues also. And because you know how to give shots you wouldn't have to bring him in weekly for the ramp up dosing schedule.

Hugs to you and your gang.

hock walking.....that is how Rocket was walking on thursday night up until saturday....

Rocket has bad arthritis but with his many meds and issues the only thing we have managed to give him is Cosequin....I wished i could get Dasuquin....can't find a place that would ship to Canada....only Cosequin....

he's been on it for over 3 yrs now....it takes a few weeks to kick in....and it's a supplement....

as what Karrie said....i agree with the Xrays...only then you will know how bad it is....Rocket's xrays confirmed the dx and how bad it was....but can't give adequan with his other multiple meds...

hope the ear thing clears for Simon....and hope Cleo is doing much better...

fyi....Rocket at his heaviest was 22 lbs....many yrs ago....he is roughly 17 lbs now.... ;-)
