Hi guys,
As you can see, Charlie's numbers have not come down all day. My partner thought they would eventually have an inflection point, and we thought by testing hourly today we might be able to catch where that was to learn more about where the nadir was. Not the case as you can see from the figures, but we do get a general idea that for Charlie, thus far her nadir seems sooner than +6 (if you look at all the data from the past days since she has been on lantus). Maybe it's too early to draw anything from the figures at this stage.
What we still think is:
- There were 5 days since she started lantus where her numbers got in the blue. On 1 of those days, she got in the green. This seems to indicate that the lantus is working for her, and that maybe even the dosage is not THAT far off. Still, she's bouncing way more than what was stated as normal (3 days/6 cycles).
- Our vet told us that after the 2nd day of antibiotics, we'd already likely see Charlie's numbers come down overall. This hasn't happened yet, and it has been almost 3 days. Still, it's a 7 day antibiotic, so maybe next week things will normalize further. OR, Charlie's urine test on Monday (post-antibiotics) will still come up high in leukocytes, and then we know there is something else going on (disease state of some sort, which could also lead to high BG #'s, I've read). God, I hope that doesn't happen.
- Tonight we will only test once. Does anyone have a suggestion for when is the best to do this? I'm thinking +4 soonest, as the lantus still may take more time to kick in after such high figures at PMPS.
- Still no poop. Charlie does like licking the bowl of plain yogurt after we finish it for an evening snack. Tonight seems to be a good night for that if it can help her digestion, but that will not be 6 hours post antibiotic. More like 2-3. Still ok?
