70 to 120 on a human meter?

I just read this in another post:

Also just in case your vet didn't tell you the normal range for a cat when using a human meter is between 40-120 while on a pet only meter normal is between 70-150 just an FYI.


I'm using a human meter (Relion) and have been getting as low as 60 (yesterday morning, pre-breakfast) and as high recently as 147 (tonight, pre-dinner). Is the 60 too low and the 147 too high or are these okay numbers?
 
both the 60 and the 147 are fine. the 147 is a hair high but if it's occasional, i wouldn't be too worried about it. like i think i mentioned in one of your earlier posts (but i'm exhausted right now so might have that confused :smile: ), your kitty could be on the verge of diabetes, or borderline so you'd want to keep an eye on that and maybe work on some diet changes, slooooowly so kitty doesn't quit eating, to possibly delay the need for any insulin.

fwiw, my non-diabetics test anywhere from 40 something to 60 something, mostly in the 60's. i've never had one of them test above 69.

depending on where you read you will see references to normal being 50-150 or 50-120 or 70-150 or any variation in between.
