We had a storm that turned into a tornado only a few miles from here and missed it again luckily! (anti-jinx) Branches and lots of leaves around to clean up and a lot of hungry birds and squirrels on my deck this morning to greet me & Racci as I gave her her second breakfast of the day. (DH had already given the first). From what I've seen on the news, it took off some roofs and did some damage but we just had a very windy storm with some hale.

Racci is feeling more herself it seems but too soon to tell. All 'P's were in place this morning and she watched the birds and squirrels eat with me after I fed them and in fact, brought it to my attention that they were waiting by going to the glass door, meowing & looking at me, telling me to come. Only after that, did she go to her spot to eat. Do you think she's learning responsibility for them?

This will be the second full day of her dose decrease and should be a good day to see if she is in a bounce still or if the dose decrease is just not enough insulin for Racci. Fingers crossed that her numbers go down! Wish us luck!

Healing & strength wishes for all who need them today and hugs to all my LL friends and kitties.

Melanie & Racci

Hi guys .. wow on the storm! I'm glad you guys didn't have much damage .. fingers crossed racci's numbers go down for you, though this blue doesn't look to shabby .. I hope you guys have a great day!

Re: 7/9-Racci-AMPS-186

Hi Devon,

Well the blue is better than a yellow but it's high for Racci and she's seen yellow since the decrease. You're right tho, it's not terrible. I think it's too low for a bounce and it's just not enough insulin for her to get down to where she needs to be. Knowing Racci tho, I have to give it a few days because she doesn't like change and sometimes settles into a dose and sometimes I have to shave a dose a little or move it up a little drop to make it work for her. She's very sensitive to very small amounts of insulin changes. I also really need to get myself one of those lights/magnifiers that you wear around your head for her doses. I'm having a hard time measuring since she's so sensitive to changes.

Thanks for visiting! I have to get over and visit you. I haven't been able to visit very much lately. Have a great day!

Re: 7/9-Racci-AMPS-186,+3.5-140,

Hey, Melanie -

WOW - glad y'all didn't see a lot of damage from the storm. Our forecast is for storms pretty much the next three days solid, but they said that's the key to breaking our heat wave, so...hoping we don't have bad storms, but do NEED the rain AND relief from the heat!

I thought about getting me one of those lights/magnifiers to wear on my head, but we went with a table magnifier. Picked it up at harbor freight when we bought the calipers.

Blues are such pretty numbers, especially to those of us looking at lots of pinks, but I hope she comes down for you soon.

Take care -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Re: 7/9-Racci-AMPS-186,+3.5-140,

Wow on the storms! So glad you are safe and didn't have much damage. It will take awhile to clean up though. Nice day for Racci. So sweet that she is looking out for the outside critters. Have a great night Melanie!

Re: 7/9-Racci-AMPS-186,+3.5-140,

Hi Libby,

Thanks, me too! That damage and tornado was just too close for comfort! I pass by there all the time going to a mall near there. I really think all our trees help protect us somewhat from the tornadoes, but that's just a theory of mine. On the other hand, I worry about lightening all the time! We're also getting those storms for the rest of the week! I hope it's the last of the bad ones also tho! The temps are more liveable now, in the 80's here.

If I don't find a style forehead light/magnifier that I like, I'll go with the table model but would rather be able to do it all in the same area rather than getting up and moving to a table to fill the syringes. I sit on an ottoman with Racci right next to me for testing and giving meds. The table I use next to me is the cocktail table and it's too low to use with the magnifier lamp.

It's true that nice bg numbers are relative and dependent on what you're used to seeing. I used to be thrilled with blues. Now I want blues under 150 or better yet, 120. I'm happy when her numbers are in the normal range. I've gotten so used to her being there for much of the time that it's what I want. It hasn't been very long that she's been doing so well but it's very easy to get spoiled! :-D I've gotten so used to it that when I went to the vet the other day and the vet was so surprised & happy when she told me that Racci wasn't leaking any glucose and I realized that it was the first time she had been there since this had become her norm. It sure was nice to know that it immediately showed up in her urine..

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you don't get bad storms.

Hi Melanie, glad you and family are okay. How terrible with the damage to other areas. Do you think Racci's numbers could be high from stress of the storm if she seemed scared! I like her +6, so there's hope yet the dose will settle in nicely. How sweet of Racci to alert you that she had friends outside waiting for food. :-D

Hi Ann! Thanks! It really is terrible about the other areas. It took the roof off a dancing studio with 15 kids in it practicing! Luckily the instructor looked out the window and saw it coming and sent the kids into a room enclosed by cinder block so the kids were ok but some of the parents who were shepherding the kids in got hurt badly and the roof sailed into the home of a couple in their 80's who were home but miraculously unhurt! Their home is destroyed though. Sad.

I don't think she's stressed out for 2.5 days. It's either a bounce from changing her dose so many times n the past few days or just not enough insulin. I gave the same dose tonight but may increase in the morning if she's still high. Have to get to sleep beore I crash on the puter. Have a good one! Thanks for visiting.
