Hi everyone!
Benny started the day at 104. That is within the margin of error of greens, which makes me nervous. He will be monitored with the Libre unless something goes wrong, then the manual meter will be used.
Bhooma, you asked about whether he has had access to MC rather than just LC. He has gotten access to MC at night since he started having really low BGs. I was worried that he would crash when I was asleep. He was still in the greens, though. He had access to MC rather than LC all night last, so that should have increased his BG, theoretically?
He went to the vet to get the Libre placed (the vet does it really well and I don't yet) and he has gained about a half pound in less than a month. His fur is looking better and his urine is at a lower volume. She keeps an eye on his spreadsheet and is happy with how he is doing.
Her recommendation for the vacation dose was that he receive no insulin at all if his BG is under 200 (which given the Libre's potential for error makes sense to me), .5 if under 500, and 1u if over 500 for days at a time. Not sure about that last bit, but that's what she recommended. What do you folks think?
