Good morning LL!

Yesterday's condo

This morning has been another OJ-style chase. He's hiding under the bed and won't come out for his breffis and shot. If he doesn't come out by the time I finish this, I'm going in for my kitty.

So I've slept on this and have decided that I will follow her recommendation of stopping insulin treatment for a week...but will try it in August. In 2 weeks I'm traveling to LA again with Junior and don't want to take the risk of the unknown happening while we're out there.

Hoping that he'll be on an OTJ trial by then. Question: When cats fail their OTJ trial, is it harder to get them back OTJ? I've seen some cats on the board come out of remission and it seems that the owners are surprised that it takes more insulin or is harder the second time around.

Now please excuse me while I go find my kitty. Will post a picture of Junior's cute butt for Mybuddybinks later on! :-P

You have to post butt pictures now. I just saw the one from yesterday and it made my day!!!! I'm still laughing.

Nice start to Junior's day. Maybe he likes the game of chase.

Tray went off the juice but only for a few months and this was before I found this amazing board so I can't offer any advice about it. I hope you get your OTJ trial and all goes well

Morning!! Nice amps for Junior. YAY!

I can't offer any advice on the off insulin questions. No experience there what-so-ever. I wish you luck, and hope all goes well, when you decide to give it a try.

And good luck capturing your kitty. :-D

Hi and did you get Junior out from under the bed? Maggie went OTJ for four months. I've been told it is harder the second time around but then again ECID. Has Junior ever traveled with you before - I'm assuming this is via air?

Yes, finally go that shot in! I first tried the gentle approach with his favorite foods and treats. He's not food driven so I reluctantly brought out the big guns: a vacuum cleaner to suck out a kitty. It worked!

Yes, he's a good traveller. We used to live in Orange County and would fly out to Chicago often so he has gotten used to traveling. Last month we just flew out to OC for first time as a diabetic kitty and then drove up to San Francisco. Are you traveling with your kitty? I wrote up some travel tips when I got back.

  the old vacuum works every time. Glad Junior came out from under the bed.

Wow, those are excellent tips for traveling with a diabetic kitty. Thanks for writing those up for us. That's great Junior is a good traveler. I've never taken Maggie on a trip, but it's nice to know just in case some day. My trip to PA is a connecting flight in Phila. to a small commuter plane. I did this trip last year but hope I don't have to do it this year.

Re: 7/8 Junior AMPS 110 +7 78

IMHO, there's a difference between a cat who doesn't complete an OTJ trial (a "failed" trial) and a cat who falls out of remission. In the latter situation, the cat has been OTJ for a period of time.

For a cat that fails a trial, all it tells us is that we moved to OTJ too soon and the cat's pancreas needed a bit more support. My impression is that it's harder for a cat that comes out of remission to go OTJ a second, or third, time. We also make it harder for the cat to go back to the Falls (e.g., reductions are earned with a drop below 40).
