Hi LL,
I've had a little bit of flu and have been feeling sorry for myself instead of writing to you all. Angie has mostly been doing well but I was a bit disappointed about her pmps last night.
Our last condo, from two days ago, is here.
RECAP
Saturday:
amps=99
+3=67
+4=79
pmps=113 (moved forward 1/2 hour)
+3.5=76
Sunday:
amps=86
+3=70
+4=77
pmps=142 (moved forward 1/2 hour) :sad: She had been under 120 for 10 cycles even with a skip and I was getting hopeful.+3=72
+4=83
Today (Monday):
amps=103
+4=74
Angie had 4 glucosamine injections (Synovan) at weekly intervals over the last four Saturdays. I've just found some research that glucosamine is linked to increasing insulin resistance.
This article found an increase in insulin resistance in rat cells: Rossetti et al, 1995,
This article found an increase in insulin resistance in rats given glucosamine: Marshall et al, 1991
This one found an increase in insulin resistance in humans with known blood sugar regulation issues: Pham et al, 2007.
This one did not find a significant increase in non-diabetic humans: Yu et al, 2003
Has anyone researched this further? Has anyone seen an increased need for insulin after long-term glucosamine supplementation?
My thoughts are with sick kitties and worried beans.
Grace
