Ok, so I read up on the suggestions from yesterday when I had the chance to get back online.

I went with an "increase" of a fat .8 last night and this morning.
He seemed to be doing about the same the last check I got last night before bed.
This morning, he was back in the 300's at amps.
Uugggggg.
I've been tracking his food intake to see what role that plays and I'm not seeing anything of significance. I don't know what to look for, either though!

Speaking of food, it was suggested that I "feed the drop", but I'm confused by this. I am of the understanding that food brings the bg UP, and he seems to drop early on, which is after he is fed. I thought to get "true" readings, you should test at least 2 hours after food.
Well, it's within the first few hours after eating and insulin that he has his drop.
He usually gets him mid day *snack* around +6-7'ish, but that doesn't do anything to bring his numbers back down, they just continue to climb until it's shot time.
I am trying to get some data today to see how he does with the fat .8 since his first go at this was an evening cycle, and well, I wanted to sleep.

I didn't read Joanna's post until after the shot last night. Maybe I should have gone down to a skinny .8?
Like I said, I want to get some numbers today to see how he does, but I am stumped. Maybe I should hold the F.8 for a couple days before trying to go the other way?
Any advice/suggestions/support is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

I wish these sugar babies would get together and make a manual with the steps to this dance.
It would definitely make life easier, wouldn't it?

Oh, a manual would be SOOOO wonderful. And one that was written just for your "model" of cat.

If we look at the big picture, you are getting more blues than before, which is good. And if he had been one point lower this morning, he would have been in the yellows. And he seems to have stopped that early drop, which I see as a good sign. (He was dropping more at +3 than around the +5-6 hour time. When we said feed the drop, we were thinking feed him around 3 so he wouldn't drop so low then. Maybe it would mean a longer surf through the cycle and not a bounce up from that early low number.) But now he seems to be having a longer cycle with the nadir later.

Re the food - if he seems to be higher with a 7% carb than a 5% carb, then try feeding the 5% for a few cycles. Some cats are really carb sensitive; some don't seem to care.......

I think he is looking pretty good. My vote would be to hold the dose a few more cycles, or up it by a bit if you are going to be around.

Right, so by feeding the drop my thinking was that the food will raise his BGs a little, so make the drop less steep by feeding him a little bit at say +2, or wherever the timing makes the most sense to keep him from falling so fast so early in the cycle.

If you are an adventurous soul :-D you could play with shooting early. It looks to me like his duration isn't too great, if you shot TID (every 8 hours), or gave shots at something like +10, you can keep him in the better numbers for longer and a lot of cats do great on that. If you wanted to try something like that, get some tips from those who have done it successfully (there are several around - not me!). The basic rules are you want to be sure he is past nadir (and never shoot before +6), and his BG is on the rise. To get the dose, you take what you are shooting in a 24 hour period and divide it by 3 as your starting point. Just a thought. :)

On the dose, I would stick with the higher dose unless you are seeing signs the dose is too high. Even when he has dropped a lot early in the cycle, I don't think it's a problem, just something to keep an eye on.
