Yesterday http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=74453 or rather last night, we finally got some action with a blue in the middle of the night. I guess she kept on going down or hanging around there until this morning. A good sign this dose is finally kicking in. We are starting the 6th cycle.

More later, off to rowing. DH will monitor for the next 2 hours. Had a great cuddle kneading session with Neko before breffies - she's in a good mood and now out doing yard patrol.

Re: 7/6 Neko AMPS 205

You are a wise mom! It's great that you know her so well and about how long it takes the NDW to diminish so you can see what she's really going to do as she settles in to a dose.

I've been thinking about her dose "if" you decide to switch insulins. Yes..a big benefit would be no stinging if the lantus bothers Neko.

What I really believe we should do is see what her test results are. If she's negative and you want to switch, I think around 70% of her current dose ....so we'd need to see what her current dose is at the time you decide to switch. If she's positive, I'd like to get Libby involved as her Jazzy was positive and she switched her to lev. I don't believe she backed it off as much so she is a great resource.

Regarding Gayles comment about it doesn't take that long to see a difference in lev, my statement that it can take weeks or longer was what Jill told me when we switched. So I didn't base that on Gracie.....it was Jill's input to me so I'd know to be patient. I saw no difference in Gracie's behavior from one insulin to the other and I'm not aware of anyone else who has said their cat was calmer or behavior changed. ECID I suppose.

I hope you enjoy your row!

It was taken about 20 minutes after her last autofeeder meal, so we'll see where this goes. Would be nice to see her start heading down again. She went out for more vitamin D on the deck after her +3 meal, but decided it's too hot for long haired cats. DH had a little trouble testing as it was time for the left ear and he burned a couple of left hand fingers on the weekend (tripped on the sail boat and instead of grabbing the railing, grabbed the hot BBQ).

First time of the year when it was actually hot out rowing - tons of other watercraft which makes it challenging and bumpier water. Especially cute are the 6 year olds learning in their 2 person sail boats. But yet again there were people in their single person kayaks who think they can cut across and beat a 4 person racing shell at full pace.

@Marj - I agree that I would hold off any changes in insulin (if I do it) until I know the test results and know what I'm dealing with. I haven't read Gayle's post, but Neko isn't fractious or anything like that. She is grumpy when she is high, but like this morning she is a snugglepuss when in lower numbers.

@Pip - can Rupert send out a line and haul Neko back down?

Looks like a good day for Neko so far.

I would encourage you to stash all of the information away. It's all good but so much of how a cat responds is unique to that cat. I think you would be disappointed if you expected Neko to act just like someone elses cat.

Hopefully Neko comes down soon! I think Rupie maybe coming up to meet you.. doh!!

what sort of boat do you have?? Stu has a San Juan 24.. he just got it about a month after he lost his 'small yellow horse'.. so now he has a 'small yellow boat'. he's going to race it this winter. He used to sail a lot until he got into the horses and found he didn't have time for both. it's not cheap paying the moorage on it, but it's still cheaper than a psychoanalyst and seems to work just as well!!

Hmm, so far this is Neko's first all yellow day since we switched to the Relion. Doesn't that mean something? Hoping so.

@Sienne - at the moment I am data gathering and pondering. Neko is teaching me not to try to predict what she will do.

@Pip - coming down she is, Neko must have passed Rupie going the other way. DH was helping a friend sail a Bavaria 50 from Granville Island to Sidney as a repositioning for the local sailboat rental place. 3 of them on a boat with 3 heads! Sailing is a great way to get away from it all.

Hi Wendy, I'm glad you had a nice day and got out rowing. It looks like Neko is coming down to almost blue soon. That is cute with Neko getting her Vit D out on the deck. :-D Have a nice evening.

That's quite the zoom up in the last hour. I guess we still have liver trust issues about whatever she did last night after +6.

@Ann - yes, the weather has finally turned here and everyone was out enjoying it, including the cats. Glad to see you back again. Neko probably did a brief appearance in the blue before zooming up again.
