Re: 7/5 Tifil AMPS 296, +2 192

Good morning. Yes you are doing good.
This may be an active cycle for Tifil since that is a pretty big drop for +2. I think getting a +3 would be a good idea.

I wrote this on the health board, I wrote it here also so that maybe someone can help.
Does anyone have an experience about thyroids??

T3 (TRIIYODOTIRONIN) Feline result as ng/mL * 0.53 (must be between 0.85 and 2.50) LOW
result as nmol/L SI 0.82 (must be between 1.31 and 3.85)

T4 (TIROKSIN) Feline result as μg/dL 1.80 (must be between 1.20 and 3.00) NORMAL
result as nmol/L SI 23.17 (must be between 15.44 and 38.61)

by the way
RDW Feline * 29.90 % (must be between 14.00 and 19.00) HİGH
PLATELET Feline * 85.00 K/mm3 (must be between 300.00 and 800.00) LOW

WHAT DOES THİS MEAN ?? My vet said we should test again. does anybody have any idea??

Platelets: You need to know if there were problems with clumping. This is frequently the case. If the platelets clump, you don't get an accurate reading.

A high RDW value means there is greater variation in red blood cell size. You also need to compare this with the MCV result. If both are high, liver problems and low levels of B12 and folic acid need to be assessed.

The low T3 may be an artifact. You really need to get free T3 and free T4 values in addition to the thyroid tests that were run. I found this explanation on another website:
Christopher A. Lee said:
Certain diseases can lead to a reduction in thyroid levels while the thyroid gland itself is functioning normally. How this works: Illness leads to decreased binding of the protein to T4 and T3. With less bound, the free portion increases. As the free form is the biologically active form, the body will then have a "feedback loop" to decrease production of the hormones till the free portion is "normal". This is why dogs with a low T4 but a normal FT4 are not hypothyroid. The diseases possible range from stress, to dental disease, to drugs, to more serious situations.

In this case, the T3 may be artifact (lab error). It just doesn't really fit. Either way, I think your plan of just retesting is a great one. At this point, I wouldn't be too concerned over these values.
The question this vet was responding to involved a low T3 but T4 and free T3 and free T4 were all normal.

so this means we should test again and see the results for fre t3 and t4 also...
By the way MCV is normal...I will stick the results here but some places are Turkish, but understandable

we have another result sheet but I didn't scan it yet...at that sheet there are the results for kidney...they are all fine
