7/5 Minnie PMPS 118 +4 95 +65

Thanks for checking in! She is doing well except for throwing that 39 at me while I was showing the petsitter how I test her!! So unexpected, and early in the cycle (or late nadir maybe from the last cycle? seems unlikely though). Of course it has me second guessing, did I give too much insulin this morning??! I think I'm just overthinking but looks like I'm not going anywhere today. At least her appetite is good.
 
I’m worried about Minnie. I see you plan to reduce tonight but there are only two more days between today and when you leave. Her depot may still be in play. And today she really dove. Did she do it while the pet sitter was there? I am assuming Eli is the pet sitter. I don’t know how I will be able to stand you being away and Minnie’s ss not being updated and not knowing if she’s okay! What is your planned vacation dose?
 
I appreciate your worry!! Originally I was going to drop to 4.5u as the vacay dose but she's just earned that for tonight now. I did oversleep a couple of times so she hasn't been on a good 12/12 schedule the last few days. I wondered if that might be part of it - in fact now I look at it, today's AM ended up being an hour earlier than yesterday's.

Yes, she did it while the pet sitter was there! I was just showing how I do the testing and nearly fell over at the 39. Started getting food, then re-tested to be sure. He clearly knows what he's doing, he's the kennel manager at our vet and I know him from regular appts. His eyes visibly widened when I said she's on 5u. He's happy with the BG testing too, knows what he's doing.

I'm thinking reduce to 4.5u tonight and depending on her numbers Tues/Weds, have him give her 4u just to be on the safe side - what do you think? I'm not messing around with 0.25u doses with a sitter. The depot will drain from the 5u between now and Thurs.

I agree about not messing with quarter units. Better to let her run a little high for a couple of days. Is he coming in every 12 hours? What will be the shot time that will fit with his schedule?

He's going to stay overnight! I think the exact 12/12 may be tricky with his work schedule but I'll see if my sister can drop in during the day and there's the auto feeder.
 
I've had a vacay dose started before, I usually did it about three days before I left, but both times ended up reducing once more the day before, and actually had the petsitter feed some higher LC in the autofeeder for snacks just to be sure he was safe. I'd see what the next day holds for 4.5u, and you still have time to reduce again before you go, if the nadirs indicate you need to.

That’s great. I didn’t realize your sister was local. I want to hear all about that and how you all settled in Seattle. But that’s another convo for that PM!

Thanks! I don't know what tricks she has up her sleeve but she's certainly a livelier little kitty with these blues and greens.
