Good morning. Yesterday’s post https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...-79-pmps-67-71-1-77-2-72.265376/#post-2972021
Oh my goodness, Lori. What a day you had yesterday! I just saw and read through your thread. You must be very tired. I hope he gives you a calm day today and won’t have tummy trouble.
When does Max go for his next vet visit? Remind me how long ago he started the Budesonide.
I hate that about the rabies vaccine. I dump vets who bug me about it. My vet knows better. I don’t know where it isn’t the law, but some states are more picky than others. If they insist, please make sure to request the Merial PUREVAX non-adjuvanted vaccine. You can read up on it. I’m sure I have recommended this to before perhaps if we talked about vaccines. If they don’t stock it, tell them to order it. If they say there’s no difference they’re either ignorant or lying (seriously, I had a vet tech try to lie to me about it before.) Ask them to humor you!Yep still tired but I’m good. No tummy upset at all so far. He had a normal poop last night. He doesn’t have an appointment yet. I’ve got to call and schedule a lab appointment for him because it’s due this month. He’s also got to get that 3 year rabies vaccine which I think is ridiculous. The cat never goes outside, but it’s the law here and if he goes to a vet, they stay on you about that. I’m not going to mention it, but I bet they will. He’s been on the Budesonide about 6 months I think.
Okay I will ask. I certainly can’t dump my vet because I’ve been through 3 since Max was diagnosed. I love the one I have now so far. She lets me manage his diabetes and she’s good about prescribing meds I ask for and lets me order wherever I can find the best price. Honestly I don’t think there’s a vet in eastern North Carolina that will defer vaccinations due to medical reasons. I’m not against all vaccines in humans but I think when you have an animal that’s 100% inside only, and has multiple medical conditions that stress his immune system…well I don’t think Max needs it but I’m sure he will have to get it because of his vet here as well as NC state vet. I’m not going to get on a soap box about vaccines because I want to stay out of trouble lol. Anyway thanks for your suggestion.I hate that about the rabies vaccine. I dump vets who bug me about it. My vet doesn’t like to vaccinate sick animals and I agree with that. I’m not suggesting you get a new vet at all! She sounds all right. Also this discussion was only about Rabies vaccines for an indoor only cat (Max) with several secondary health conditions one of which is inflammatory in nature- I am not commenting on other animal vaccines and certainly not human vaccines either. Just the rabies. I just wanted to suggest the PUREVAX rabies since it seems like you will have to have it. Hopefully that’s already what Max has gotten. Dr. Lisa Pierson (of catinfo.org fame) was the first to recommend the Merial PUREVAX to me. She’s got a great piece on her site about why we need to stop over vaccinating our cats. I’m sure Max will be okay, of course. Most cats weather it okay.Okay I will ask. I certainly can’t dump my vet because I’ve been through 3 since Max was diagnosed. I love the one I have now so far. Oh, and I was just thinking… it’s true that I have parted company with some vets over this issue…. But some have parted company with me as well. One vet in particular, the mobile vet, is a stickler for vaccines. We disagreed. She said she would not take care of my animals any more if I would not have them vaccinated. I said fine. I did think it was a shame though because I like her and sometimes it’s convenient to have access to a mobile vet. Here again, I should clarify that we are talking about adult animals who had already been vaccinated multiple times in their lives and most likely already had lifetime immunity. All this talk of vaccines though puts me in mind that I was going to take my two foster kittens for vaccines this week. They’re big/old enough now. I’m going to go call now.

Unfortunately I did not. I had so many errands to run...Walmart for more test strips, etc. so I was in and out of the house most of the day.If that was supposed to be a bounce today, he cleared it in record time! I hope you napped this afternoon, Lori, just in case.
He's already ate. That was 4 percent carb. I will check him again several times before it onsets though and will give him higher carbs if he doesn't bounce again. I got an appointment for Max on 7/22. I asked for labs only, but they said he needed to see the vet, so I know why. Praying he will be okay.At least you're ready for it. Can you feed a little higher carb now at mealtime? I don't mean over 10% really, but a little higher. Or if you did want to do MC now. You'll be up with him for a while anyway. Just thinking of stuff... ignore me if you want to![]()
