Morning! Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend

Right now I'm at TBP (again  ) and hugely yawning. I didn't stay up late to watch the rest of the holiday concert on tv. I climbed into bed after the 1812 Overture. The next town over had a huge firework show. The park isn't too far from where I live (kind of live near the town line) and the side of the building I'm on was brightly lit up every few seconds :o I bet the people who live at the front of the building got a great view of the fireworks  Leroy and Emma jumped at every boom and skittered across the floor with huge eyes. At least the booms didn't distract ADD Leroy from eating his bedtime raw nugget

Good morning everyone!

We had a nice weekend hanging with family but today is back to routine .. peter's back to work and unfortunately I'm left with a disaster of a house so that will be my mission for today .. I missed getting to everyone's condo's this weekend but hope to be back in routine tomorrow!

Mocha is going to the vet later today for an ear mite situation we can't seem to win .. At least I'm hoping that is what the problem is .. I'm sure the vet will figure it out ..

Have a great day everyone!

poor icky-eared mocha! that's lousy.

we had fireworks in the culdesac behind us this year - first time that's happened. illegal fireworks for oregon - they were shooting up above the treetops, probably 75 feet in the air at least. lots of big trees in between us and them so we couldn't see them too well, but what we saw was really pretty. usually it's very quiet around here - i'm thinking someone new must've moved in. my cats were alert but not bothered by it.

i'm on the fence about applying for another job. we could use the income, but it's full-time plus, and with punkin that seems difficult. i am also spoiled from being unemployed for a year and a half and would rather not take another full-time job. plus the "preferred qualifications" including speaking either mandarin, cantonese or arabic - which i don't, although i majored in french - and they prefer a master's in international studies and i have a bachelor's in it (double-majored). i do

if i'm going to do it i have to do it by Thursday. i suppose nothing lost by applying, except it's a bit of work. i just don't know. it's working with international students coming here for short-term programs, which i've done before, also at the same university but different department, different responsibilities.

I think you should do it ;-)
It'll make you feel better to apply, at least. Otherwise, you'll wonder. If you get a job offer, you can always say "no" or "I'll do it for double the salary  "

Julie, it wouldn't hurt to apply for the job  Even if you don't speak the preferred languages, they may still offer you the job if you show them that you are willing to take classes to learn languages. Some comapnies will even pay for the classes

So apparently Leroy is fascinated with ice cubes in the water fountain. Today was kind of hot so I put some ice cubes into the water fountain to cool the water. Leroy sat in front of the fountain completely mesmerized by the floating cubes  When the cubes melted, he seemed disappointed and started trilling. It sounded like he was asking a question from the inflection of his trill. So I put another cube in and he happily trilled away and watched the cube float around... and melt. Then he was disappointed again  Emma watched the cube for a bit but wasn't interested. She was more interested in the huge flock of birds (not sure what kind. Little brown ones) that was hanging around outside in the grassy area of the driveway entrance.
