Mary will get 1u this morning following the vets advice to do the two different doses in the morning and evening. At the ER they thought she needed one unit but she'd had a couple of odd long nadirs so they wanted to start more conservatively in case a long nadir and less stress would send her low overnight. Last nights numbers indicate 0.5 is still too low and she'll hopefully do better on the 1u today.

Mary LOVES being back home and is really snuggly and purry and is eating well. She is tolerating the pills (antibiotics to complete a two week course and Pepcid AC) and I've got to start subQ fluids today (100ml once a day) so hopefully she won't wriggle too much. I have a restraint bag if needed.

Mary sends smoochies to everyone!

Mary did well with the fluids. She wriggled a bit and I had to do it in 2 goes but she didn't need the restraint bag. She absorbed the fluids pretty quickly which tells me she still needs some help with her hydration but the vet gave me enough for 10 days and will assess whether she'll need it for longer at her recheck next week.

Mary's been adorably smoochy all day and seems to be doing well so far. I was a bit worried her BG was so high but it seems to be coming down again with the 1u dose and I confirmed with the vets that given her readings at home over thd last 24 hours it makes sense to go to 1u BID. I'll do some testing overnight to make sure it doesn't go too low.

Mary sends smoochies and head butts to everyone!
