Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good!

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, and a great week. Happy 4th to everyone. happy Canada day to our friends up north, I know I missed that day here on the forum.I hope all our Canadian friends had a good one! Today we were due for cloudy not so sunny weather, but at least no rains. it was such a joy when the sun finally came up to see we had sunny clear blue skies. NO CLOUDS! So I thought I had bet take advantage of that, and hit the trails here at home at Meadowdale, while I could, while the weather was good, and before the masses that make up the 4th here head to the beach. What a nice time out! I spent the morning there, somehow managed to log about 8 miles. What a nice way to start the day. The clouds have since started to move in, but we still have some blue patches. Still no rains. This is one of the few and far between 4th of July's where I can remember that it has not rained. it always rains here on the 4th, always. How cool that, so far, this year it is not. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D  WOOT WOOT!

The days with the boys have been good ones! We have been very busy, that part of life has not changed, and probably never will. :-D Wednesday was our swim days this week. We did not swim today, duh, since today is a holiday and the boys are home having an awesome 4th with their mom and dad. Wednesday swimming was as good as it always is. The energizer fishie was in his element, and continues to have a great time in the pool. The pool is now on their summer swim schedule, which means that the big pool that Nicholas loves is not available, due to all the swim lessons they run there during the summer. He has adapted to loosing that pool well, and has found ways to do what he likes to do in the big pool in the ones that he now has. It was nice to see him accept that without any fuss. When w went this week he asked if he could swim in the big pool yet, and I told him no, that summer schedule was still in effect. His comment: " That sure lasts a long time! BUMMER!!" I have gotten a few swim toys that he likes and we now bring a few of our own so he can continue to do what he has fun with. He continues to interact well with the others kids he meets there, so all is well, so far, in the swimming world of a three year old. We still have many many swims under the surface! Lots of fun interacting with alot of the other kids there. That is really fun to watch.

Monday found me out hiking. What an adventure! I went to a place called over by Leavenworth to a place called Icicle Gorge, through which runs Icicle Creek. I love this hike. It isn't difficult, isn't too long, and the rewards are outstanding. Icicle Creek, and the Gorge it runs through. Is ever so pretty. I did a few off trail "roads" as well, that intersected with Trout Creek, and Jack's Creek. Those little side adventures were fun, something new to discover. The creeks were gorgeous: high water, fast and furious. Beautiful!! The wildflowers were still blooming when I was there today, on the last week for so for those, alot were bloomed out. Weather was great: sunshine everywhere. What a fantastic day. And I will laugh - only I could come back from a hike and a road trip with over 800 photos.... oh HAHA! Hike was about 6 miles, with minimal cumulative gain of 380 feet. Elevation was at 2800 feet. The drive over HWY 2 was ever so nice too! The images are from shots I took along the way, at various places I stopped: Skykomish River at Big Eddy, Alpine Falls at the Tye River, Stevens Pass, the Wenatchee River, and Icicle Creek. What a gorgeous day to be on the road... Weather was exceptional too: from a cool fog at Big Eddy, to a nice warm sunny 80 in Leavenworth. Truly an exceptional day. On the way home I stopped in at Zeke's Drive-In for one of their burgers. It's s small family own drive-in with really GOOD burgers. I just had to stop. I was not disappointed. MAJOR YUM! There is something to be said for burgers that good, eating them outdoors, with the mountains as a back drop. PRIMO comes to mind.

Tuesday is usually my visit Barb in Seattle day, but she had meetings and could not get away. So I thought I'd spend another day on the river, at a place that I have not been able to get to since last fall. it's been snowed in.... I also wanted to go to see how it was, as it is also one of Nicholas's favorite places to go to spend a day on the river: Jack's Pass. What an awesome day it was. I headed on up the spend part of the day on the Skykomish, at Jack's Pass. It was just too nice of a day not to be outdoors, and I really couldn't think of a better place to spend it. This part of the river is an awesome place to go and just hang out. I explored some too, logged maybe three miles. In doing so, I saw alot of wildflowers, frogs (yes frogs!) in a pond off of the river, and a couple of deer during my off trail bushwhacking. :) They were gorgeous! I heard the loud snap of branches as I was walking, knew I had stumbled onto something. Cool! It was then that they poked their heads around the corner, and leaped off into the woods. That alone made my day. What an awesome time on a very pretty river. A very fast, very high, very furious gorgeous river. Nicholas my man - time we went back and introduced William to the beauty of Jack's Pass.

Wednesday, after swimming, we went to Juanita Beach. The weather had improved enough, the sun was beginning to poke through, and it was turning into a warm afternoon, like 80 (!!), so off we went! We did all of what he goes there for. Lots of play, and it was warm enough that he could swim in the water. He had such fun with that. I had also brought a pair of swim trunks for William, so he was able to really get in the water, and play as much as he wanted. He was introduced to very small waves, and had a blast. Nicholas was there to show him the ropes, and to introduce him to burying oneself in the sand. A few other boys were doing it, so Nicholas tried too. Of course William had to come and see what all the laughter was about. WHAT A MESS he was after that.   All around - really a terrific day. I bet both those boys slept well that night. William has really developed a fondness for it all, he just gets so excited when he sees the parks, the beaches, the rivers, He is so very much like his brother when he was that age. He just loved it. We also had a small picnic after our beach and park time. AWESOME time at the beach.

Thursday was a debatable weather day, lots of clouds and pending rains, at least for the morning. so... another indoor day to start. Per Nicholas's choice we were off to the Seattle Aquarium. Both boys love that place. William is so taken back by all the colors of the tropical fish tanks, and the water fall there. That too has always been a hit with Nicholas. When we arrived there was no one there, not like last week when the Aquarium was on kid overload. Summer programs have kicked in, and alot of kid care places visit the aquarium, it was just so busy! Lots of tourists too! We were lucky this trip: no kids groups, and the tourists waited until 1 PM! YAY! That meant that the tide pools were not busy, so both boys got to spend alot of time with the anemones and the starfish - a lot of touch and feel. AWESOME stuff! When it did get busy, both boys didn't mind, we just focused on what we could see, where they could get close enough to enjoy. After the Aquarium we spent some time on the Water Front park, walked the boardwalks, and had lunch #2 outside. That was fun, as the skies had cleared some, the sun was out, and well... it just felt great! While there we had a burgers and fries lunch. ;-)  My DH had brought some home for both boys, so they could have some during the week, since there could not be a FR night burger feast. It was actually kinda gun to have a Lunch Burger Feast instead. The drives to these places are always such fun. We have the boys, their bears, Nicholas's never ending stories. All rolled together to make the Many faces of travel. :-D

Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   What to say about the kitties.... They have been good kitties, and even Lola! Well sorta on Lola... Lola will always be Lola. Crazy fun Lola. I wrote most of this last week, but it still holds true. They re all well! YAY!!! They are all well, enjoying warmer weather here, and open window,. I still haven't done the catio fior Lola and Bug, the expense is a deterrent. I do hope to be able to get that done for them, especially Lola, soon. Bug seems to be indifferent to being able to go outside, he never ever even tries. Lola I've had to haul back inside way too many times to count... she is a master at escaping. Elsa still has her outdoor privileges. She's always been an outdoor kitty, loves it there. She's a good girl though, and never leaves her yard. Long gone are her days of touring the neighbors yard, and being the mouse population controller of the neighborhood. This senior gal likes it in her own back yard now. anyways....soon I truly hope for a catio and a kitty run for Lola and Bug. it will be nice for Elsa too in that I can let them all be out when I am not home. Lola continues too to pound on all glass and plastic surfaces. What a hoot. Still walking the railing and the frig door. Still eating my plants. Crazy fun Lola! Bug continues to warm up to the boys more and more as the days go by. Sure is nice to see that. He still comes to sit by William at times when he sleeps. That so reminds me of Mannie and Nicholas. Elsa is still dong well, darn active for an almost 18 year old. She sleeps alot, but what the heck: part of being a cat. She continues to be a very good lap cat of late: nice! With the warm weather she has been out in the yard alot. Lola is SO JEALOUS!!, and lets me know it whenever she sees Big Sis out in the yard. It is interesting that Bug just doesn't seem to mind that all. He is more than content to be a house cat. Kitties are good, and All are sound asleep as I write this.... Stay good kitties! I keep waiting for Lola to find something to stir the pot with here, but she hasn't. Maybe being 2 now she is mellowing, maybe. Though she is part Maine Coon, so I suspect that we will alwyas have slot of that Spunk. I sure hope so anywyas. Normalcy in MusketeerVille!

Have a great day everyone! Enjoy your holiday. Be safe, keep your kitties safe. it is relatively quiet here now, not too many fireworks... I am sure that will change shortly. BOOM BOOM!

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN cat_pet_icon

Re: 7/4 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy 4th of July LL!!

Just popping in quickly to say have a great 4th. I'll see how busy you've been later.

Re: 7/4 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy 4th of July LL!!

Yet again I'm tired just reading your condo. So much packed into one short week. I love the photos of your hikes and how many different flowers you manage to find. The frogs were a neat addition to the photo collection.

The boys are definitely growing up. It's fun to see how much William is starting to participate in activities now - he sure loves the beach. But for some reason I have a craving for burgers now.

Scritches to the furry critters. I hope it's not too noisy for you and them. Rain just started here so that may slow things down a bit for the fireworks. We too had unexpected blue skies this morning, I had to put the shades on partway through the row. Anyway, Happy 4th to you!

Re: 7/4 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy 4th of July LL!!

Hi Carla :-D Happy 4th back at ya! I hope you are having a great holiday.

Hi Wendy :-D LOL, I know... I often wonder why at weeks end I am so so tired!  DUH! THX on the hike photos. I really do love the wildflowers, so amke a point of getting as many pics as I can. It's nice to search out the splotches of color and see what it is up close. The frogs were a total surprise. I had no clue until the water moved.... and then one jumped in. really cool! I agree on William - he really wants to join in, so I do what I can to make sure he has fun too. He's turning into quite the water baby. ;-) LOL on the burgers!   Oh wow - you too on the sun this morning? COOL! It has clouded over alot, so not too sure what will be tonight,at least it is not raining... yet.

Re: 7/4 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy 4th of July LL!!

Beautiful pictures as always. How cool on the frogs. That is great that William got to play in the waves. That was nice of your DH to make sure the boys got burgers and fries. I'm glad the kitties are all doing well.

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy Sunday LL!!

Good Morning LL! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (YUM! I Love coffee!), and Happy Sunday!
LL! It's is I, Elsa, KBP!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! Coffee is on, Lola and Bug , founders of Paw Prints Pizza, are ready to go! Want pizza? it is MEGA GOOD! They are busy getting ready for.... uh.... I dunno! but there sure is a flurry of activity in the kitchen. so. well. anyways. ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and Double shot Breve's, with beans from high in the Brazilian Mountains.... and for my mocha fans: a VENTI Quad Blueberry infused white mocha/mocha blend with white chocolate chips melted within, swirled with a raspberry puree, topped with a strawberry infused whip garnished with caramelized berry sprinkles and white chocolate curls and a caramel drizzle.......SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of 4 berry and vanilla and caramel swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with caramel and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good!

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope your holiday weekend is, and has been, a good one. We survived the 4th of July here. AT home was relatively uneventful, with an early morning walk to the shore, and then just some at home quiet relaxing time,. Until the BOOMS and the BANGS, and the NOISE started about 8pm. It was non-stop after that. I saw some of the show from the neighbors - it was on all four sides of us, before I crashed, and went to bed. I woke up off and on for a few hours, and the booms and the bangs were still going on.  So... when I awoke at 0-dark-thirty ,and saw that we had sun, or would have sun, I knew it would be a perfect time to head on out to the shore, so I did, for short quick walk before beginning with the normal Saturday chores: Shopping, laundry, errands. The rest of the day was spent working the yard, which was sorely needed, until the rains started about 2PM. It was the perfect excuse for me to stop. Worked for me! That however was not a deterrent for an afternoon walk in the neighborhood. ;-) Things always look so fresh during and after a rain. Some of my summer flowers are now in bloom, the daisies and hydrangeas. YaHOO! Love those flowers. The walk was a nice one, not too wet, and n ice wrap up for the day. Today greeted us all her with warm morning temps, in the 60's, with what looked like a nice sunrise in the making. So I was out early, like 5AM early, to visit the beach and shoreline at Picnic Point. That was ever so nice! There is a section there that is made up of remnants of an old pier. On top of these stand alone pilings are a few bird houses, which now appear to be occupied. Their bird song this morning was really nice! I could have listened to that for alot longer than I did. very cool. It is proving to be a very nice, unwind from the boys, weekend. :-D

Normalcy reigns supreme here with the Three Musketeers. It has been warm, and they are in summer it is warm out mode. Lola still wants out so bad, I am very preempted to take her out, and be prepared to have to retrieve her. Not too sure yet if I will. Big has been my evening lap buddy the last three nights. Love that! He curls right up and stays there until I more. GO BUG!! Elsa has been our outdoor girl of late, what with the warm sunny days. UI will let her out, as she does not go far, and is content to stay in the yard where I can see her. She has been enjoying the sun we have had the past few days. Mannie's Garden is doing well, it survived the winter, the astilbe are growing, but slowly. The hostas are doing well too, though the evil yard residents, aka the slugs, seem to think they make a good meal. So... need to tend to them. I am just glad that the garden made it, as it is afterall Mannie's final resting place. Miss you big guy, as always.

Have a great rest of your Sunday everyone. I am off to put in some more time in the yard, and then back to Meadowdale Park to pick huckleberriees. They are in full fruit there now, and well... Gotta harvest what I can for nicholas. We all know how much he LOVES his wild berries. I have also found a patch there, well three, of thimbleberries. They need a few more ripening days before I can harvest them. :-D :-D :-D

Hi Carla ~O) ~O) ~O) THX (!!) on the pics. I thought so too on the frogs. What surprise! never knew they lived in those parts, guess so! It was wonderful with William. He had such fun and was so excited that he actually got to go into the water and play in it. The waves were a surprise to him, but he really seemed to enjoy them. Yes, and kudos to DH. The boys were happy that he did. THX too on the kitties.

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy Sunday LL!!

Neat video of the bird songs. I love that you got some pictures of a bald eagle. How cool.

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy Sunday LL!!

Over 800 pictures  ...wow! As always, they are stunning! Who could possibly resist all those photo ops!

Great shots of the boys, too. William looks so happy, and it looks like he's going to follow in Nicholas's foot steps with that sense adventure and love of water and the outdoors. That is awesome!

I hope the rest of your yard work went well and that you're able to get in some R&R to gear up for the upcoming week's activities!

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy Sunday LL!!

HI Michelle,
I'm just getting to your weekend now, and what a week and weekend it was! Lovely hikes (Icycle Creek looks icy!), great pics. I liked the "many faces of travel", and the frog pics. What, you didn't get a shot of the deer charging off into the woods?
The "dawn chorus" with it's accompaniment of light waves was neat. I'm glad that you are having some good weather these days.

Enjoy your yard work. We are putting that off, yet again. Thanks for visiting Rusty's condo. The Chef has been mighty busy lately with all the OTJ parties and appreciates the help of Elsa, Bug and Lola.

Cavendish had to drop out of the Tour. He separated his shoulder, among other things. He acknowledged that the accident was his fault and apologized to the other cyclist, who was injured, but has continued the race.

Have a fine week upcoming.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! Happy Sunday Evening LL!

Happy Sunday Evening LL!! I cannot believe that the weekend is almsot over.... ;-) I did work the yard some, until I was on heat overload. Turns out it was 81 put there, and no wonder I was HOT.  DUH! I had by then done most of what I wanted to get done today, so it seemed like a good time to stop, so I did. PHEW!!! I went huckleberry hunting some time later, and came home with quite the haul for Nicholas and William. It is nice to have found so many! I also found another bush of thimbleberries, which should be ready in a couple of days. YUM!

What a beautiful summer evening it is here tonight. Sunny, and in the upper 70's. The kitties are in summer sleep mode, all having chose a place near a window. We do have a slight breeze, so I m sure these spots rank as perfect for them.

Have a great evening LL!!

Hi Carla ~O) THX so much on the video. I so enjoyed that moment, you could hear those birds singing from all over on the beach, They seem to really like those houses on top of those pilings. It was darn cool to see those eagles this morning. One of them let me get within 20 feet! WAY COOL! :-D :-D :-D

Hi Amy ~O) I know.... 800!   The camera is always in my hand, so sometimes it is easy to come home with so many. I take shots of anything that interests me, or looks good. THX, The subject matter made it easy to take come good ones. THX too on the boys pics. I agree on William. He follows Nicholas's lead, and so far he likes it all. I too believe he will be just like his brother: anything outdoors and with water. I agree: AWESOME! THx too on the yard. I worked as long as I could until it was just enough, too hot out in the sun. Time now for that much needed R&R! I am so ready!

Hi Ella ~O) THX on the hikes, and the pics. They are two of my fav areas. The scenery is so great, the hikes are easy enough, but spectacular too. Cool on the "Many faces of travel". It is always like that with Nicholas, and I am sure William will be soon too: FUN and WILD and ENJOYABLE car rides! They both are such happy boys. LOL on the deer and no pic. I was SO CLOSE too! almsot had the shot, but he leaped and then was out of frame.    ThX too on the dawn chorus. I loved it - so peaceful! me too on the weather - it has been an excellent summer, not he usual rainy soggy one we normally get. July and August though can be good months. ah yes.... the yard work. I did some, but then was on overheat, so time to stop. Good excuse as any.  It really isn't my fav thing to do... THX for the info on Cavendish, I hope to catch up with the tour stuff sometime tonight. I've missed alot....
Rusty! Your OTJ party menus have been the bestest ever! Mannie is so proud of you. Lola and Bug and Elsa are glad they can help. They hope they do OK. ~~ Auntie Michelle

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! It's Cheery Cherry Monday

Good Morning LL!! ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) (Elsa - lots (!!) please! This bean is so sleepy...), and Happy Cheery Cherry Monday
LL! It's is I, Elsa, KBP, kitteh barista pilot!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! GUESS WHAT! Today is CHEERY CHERRY MONDAY!! Lola and Bug, aka Paw Prints Pizza, are making their cheery cherry pizza pies. It is after all Monday, and that is now tradition! Anybody up for a cherry pizza? so. well. anyways. ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and Double shot espressos, with beans from deep within the mountain slopes of Africa, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: a VENTI Quad cherry infused white mocha/mocha blend with white chocolate chips melted within, topped with a cherry whip garnished with candied cherry sprinkles and white chocolate curls. SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of cheery cherry and chocolate swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with crystallized cheery cherries and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good! We gots CHEERY CHERRY CHEESECAKE too! as well as cheery cherry frappes! I love cheery cherry Mondays.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. I just wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a good week ahead. And.... Elsa just had to have a Cheery Cherry Monday. It's been too long she says, so bring on those cheery cherries. Kitties are great this morning. Lola has been going bonkers, not to sure why - we have this non-stop marathon run throughout the house, up to the windows, several hollers there, and then onto the next one. There must be something very interesting out there in the yard. She's even got Bug all wound up. Elsa could care less, and went to take a nap on the bed. ;-) Hey - we had CPC Club all around here this morning. Way to go kitties!

Have a great Monday. I am meeting my youngest son for lunch today. This will be fun - off to red Robin! YUM!! I haven't seen him in ages. He is one busy kid, manages a pizza store, still plays in the band (gig this coming Sunday) and out having fun with his DGF. It will be good to see him. Before lunch I am off to walk the Burke-Gilman trail in Seattle, starting point at Matthew's Beach, heading north along the shore of lake Washington. it is an urban walk (with water!!), but located close to my lunch spot, so I thought this would be a nice thing/walk to do before I meet up with the kid. YaHOO! A new urban route for me. :-D :-D :-D There is a Beaver Pond natural area nearby, so if time permits I may pay that a visit after lunch. Awesome day in the making!

Enjoy your day LL! Healing vines to all kitties that need them. KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN cat_pet_icon

Re: 7/4,7/6 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! It's Cheery Cherry Monday

Even on the days without the (little) boys, you pack so much into one day it is amazing, Michelle! I hope it was as awesome as you were anticipating!!

Re: 7/4-7/7 LOOSE LIPS: Fun Times! It's Cheery Cherry Monday

Hi Amy :-D THX< I guess I just like to be busy.... ;-) But it was a great day. The urban trail weak was nice, it would make an awesome bike trail. Walking it was good too, I got to gawk at alot of extremely nice, but cramped together (like only a few feet, maybe three, between them!), waterfront homes. Lunch was an adventure! The Place we hoped to have lunch at was closed when we got there - for renovation! LOL! None of us knew.... but we found another nearby, a California Pizza Kitchen, which actually was pretty good. I never did make that Beaver Pond, as it was late by the time we finished, so.... will save that for another day. All in all, a great day, and a nice relaxing evening.
