Well, blech. I suspected another furshot last night, but egads. Placing an order for Relion strips tonight and will get some from Walmart to tide us over. Willie is his usual furry purry self, with btb cuddles in full effect!


Starting to feel better... but amazing how something like that wears you out!

Meh. Now testing with both meters through this cycle... not quite the variance I had hoped for, but is okay. We'll get back on track. Need to get the spreadsheet updated... going to dosecrease up again soon as I don't want him getting too accustomed to these higher numbers. He's seeming a bit sleepier and his urine output has increased a bit. Of course, the temps shot up here again today, so that may be part of it as well.

The Relion confirm is manufactured by Arkray, and is actually just a branded version of their Glucocard 01 meter. ADW carries the generic version, whose strips work just fine in the Relion meter. I link through Mr. Rebates, which nets me an additional 8% cashback, plus you're not paying sales tax. I ended up with 350 strips plus a few snack items to get to the amount for free shipping. Thanks for the info on the strips!!! Is it for any of the Relion meters? My backup meter is the Relion Confirm and I would LOVE to get the strips even cheaper. I wouldn't have to use the Aviva as much, which I don't like as well because it needs a bigger drop of blood than the Relion.

Okay, well, that is better. Put my big girl patience pants on and kept him at 0.5u tonight... good, given that tonight was only the 6th cycle at that dose. Assuming he continues to head downward, we're going to stay here for now. Managed to get quite a bit done today... AND even fit in a nap. Didn't get to the garage, but did get a lot of cleaning/laundry done.

Patty-- The Glucocard 01 strips work in the Relion Confirm and Micro models. I don't know if the Glucocard vital strips will work in the Relion Ultima meter. ADW has packages for all three that include meters as well.

How did you find out theat the Arkray and the Relion were manufactured by the same company? I just saw a house brand meter at Target and wonder who makes that?

Keep it coming, Ann! I think he's listening! As for the meter, I happened to notice on the strip jar that the listed distributor was Arkray, so I ran it through ADW. The Glucocard 01 looked exactly like the Relion Confirm, so I took a chance and ordered some strips and also include a meter, just in case. Turns out, it was the same, so I donated a package of strips and the extra meter for newbie kits and started using the strips for me. For $100.21, I got the Buy 4 get 1 Free meter package (250 strips), a 100 strip package, and some misc. diabetic snack items for me to get me to $105 (has to be $100 after coupon for the free shipping to kick in). Used the $5 off $50 code, got free shipping and I'll get back $8 from Mr. Rebates as well. With tax, the same number strips would have cost me almost $155 with tax at Walmart. The Advocate strips are only slightly less on ADW, though I've been able to get good deals in the past on ebay... sometimes as low as $0.08/strip. But the meter runs high, takes a big droplet, which can be hard to get in the winter, and i can't get the strips locally at all, which means making sure i'm always extra-prepared.

Marjorie-- The black yoga ones seem to be doing the trick. For now, at least... :lol: :lol: :lol:
