Well I guess tonight is an increase again. Not looking forward to staying up all night once its kicks in. This last dose was great and then just fizzled out. I thought Karamelle had stopped the snorting but she was doing it again this morning and Id left the fan off all night to see if that was it. I'll call the vet and see if I can get her in.

And good luck with the new dose! Hopefully it’s a gentle slide down and you won’t be up all night 🌊🏄‍♀️

I hope the coughy sneezy stuff is something minor. Good luck with the vet. I hate when a dose seems promising at the start and just loses its steam

Yeah, that sucked about the dose. Strangely she just gave me a high blue, but Im pretty sure now that +9 is her nadir most of the time. I did take her to the vet today. The vet isnt my normal one I see, but he was nice. I tried to get a video of what she was doing, but of course she wouldnt cooperate. I had one really short one I showed the vet. He gave me a bunch of options and I went with the nose drops to start with. It is Maropitant Citrate (generic for Cerenia) injectable mixed with saline. Just gave her a dose, 2 drops in each nostril. Well sort of. One drop ended up on her face, but I think I managed to get 2 drops in each nostril. The other options were Zyrtek, Famotidine, a head xray, a CT scan and an MRI. So we'll see how these nose drops work. This particular Maropitant Citrate (called Emeprev) is new and can be stored at room temperature, so the nose drops dont have to be refrigerated and he said they would last for a year. But they are still light sensitive, so to keep them in a cabinet.
 
I’m glad the vet was nice and that you were able to get the drops in. I can’t imagine any of our kitties being willing to let me do nostril drops 😱

It sounds like Miss Karamelle was being very nice by tolerating it!

I hope this helps her and she feels better. I like seeing the blue. You don’t have to increase tonight. You can do it in the morning, if need be.

Shes really such a good girl. I can do just about anything to her. Shes so much more trusting than she was 10 years ago when she first arrived here. She was a big biter, I had to really watch when I was petting her. Not sure when she stopped. it was probably gradual, but she lets me pet her anywhere now. Loves belly rubs as well. Plus I can just shove pills and food or anything else in her mouth with my finger and she lets me with no complaints. She always sits still for her meds, poke and shot. Shes perfect really! 💚

I don’t know if I’d let that many people put nostril drops in me either 🤣

Its funny. The strongest bond Ive had have always been with cats I had to spend a lot of time with medicating. I once a had a feral, who was so terrified of me that he would pee and poop when I picked him up. He wasnt aggressive tho. I never pet him on a regular basis, just put flea control on him every so often. But then he developed kidney disease and I had to confine him to a room to be able to give him fluids and meds every day. The cat he was closest to had died, so he didnt mind having his own space. But the strangest thing happened after a few months. He started to respond to me, started purring and pushing into my hand for pets. He was like a different cat than Id known all those years. So I think it might be the constant attention they get when they need meds that forms the bond.

I wonder if they know that you’re trying to help them and deserve their trust. At least I think they know that they’re not feeling good and that whatever you do to them, they feel better after. And I guess caregiving becomes its own bonding routine you do together.
