Happy Caturday LL! I made it to oldtimer's Caturday
For those that don't know us. Oreo was dx'd 3/13/08. We came home from a holiday trip to Phoenix and she was emaciated and hiding under the bed. We thought maybe she just didn't eat well while we were gone and gave it a few months. Needless to say, it got worse. Off to the vet we went scared of what the answer would be. I had researched and thought it might be thyroid. No...it was FD. Our vet first suggested Glip. We took that as niether me or DH thought we could give her shots. Also got the AlphaTrak meter and was testing her from her paw pad. Not much changed and by 8/30/08 we thought we were going to lose her again. Took her in, got a blood test and waited until the next day for the results. The results were...still FD. We need to try injectable insulin. Asked the vet what he was thinking as far as insulin and I think it was vetsulin or Lantus. Lantus please (I had been lurking here since July 08) After lurking here for over a month and seeing the results I chose Lantus. Went to the pharmacy, got the Lantus (vial, oops) and syringes (not 1/2U marked, oops again) and started posting.
In April of this year, Jojo suggested (through FB) trying Levemir. I thought, why not. Asked the vet, he was very reluctant and at first basically said no. I got lots of info from peeps here and sent it over to my vet. He looked at the studies and his reply to me was "as a dr we always are interested in finding new and better ways of treating things. You test her enough I think it will be ok to put her on Levemir"...or something like that  We got our script and here we are.
Honestly, I don't think she will go OTJ. I think the Glip stressed her pancreas out so bad that we won't get there. But she is happy and much healthier now.
Previous Condo
Helene - yeah, need lots of spot checks. I kind of took a break there
Roni - my whole house is a Cat Racetrack
Libby - nice to see you and pretty Lucy too! I do think she needs an adjustment. Hopefully we can figure out which way after today
WCR:
For anyone who popped in here while only the last condo link was there...sorry about that  My last condo code is on one computer and I wanted to type this on the other.
Happy Caturday everyone!
