Just got his +3 and he is 114. This 114 is after he ate some LC (4%) about 40 minutes ago.

He's very hungry and I made the decision to immediately give him 14% since he ate so recently and was still 114.

Was this incorrect or too preemptive?

I'll give him another test in an hour and update here.

Sounds good to me! Any time you can slow a kitty's roll (the drop :p), I think it's a good idea as big drops can cause bounces. In fact, if Templeton makes a habit of these drops, you may want to get some +1s and +2s when you can and then feed even earlier (and admittedly I haven't read your history and don't know your daily schedule and am sure you are doing the best you can :bighug:). Also, this cycle could be similar to PM of 07/18 :cat: Surf safely!

Yup, it does look very similar to that 7/18 PM cycle. I normally get a +2 but he was so high at PS and the other day did a big drop after his flat +2 that I decided to get a +3 to be safer. Of COURSE when I do that, it would have been good to get an earlier reading as well ;)

Thanks!

I know he's not under 60 so technically LC is correct, but I decided to give him 11%, hopefully that was fine and doesn't abort the cycle too much.

Very nice! I might get one more in an hour or 90 min if it was me - just to be sure he stays flat. In cycles like this with a gigantic drop, my goal was to try to keep Pearl floating on an even keel as long as I could so that maybe just maybe in time she would not bounce as badly afterwards.

How about 1 tsp your normal LC or try no food unless he hasn't eaten enough yet? And test in 1 hour, or 75 min?
I could try no food, I let him have 60 calories of 11% cause he kept coming and asking for more. I know I'm not supposed to give him that much, but I don't have a problem getting food in him. He's a grazer and it's a struggle to wait even longer than an hour between feedings.

I'll do no food and test in an hour.

Thank you!

Yeah, I really like the thought of keeping them flat to avoid later bounces, even if we have to stray a bit from the "rules" of LC at X, MC at X. I hadn't thought about it that way before you and JaxBenji mentioned that today.

Every cat is different so you’re experimenting to learn what will work for Templeton. When kitty is plummeting, slowing down the drop is a good idea so you’re figuring out how to do it and he is looking good

Even if I do feed him too many carbs, at least I'll have that data for the future!
