Ok, only 2 more days of freedom. Time to get my sassy cat on track with her eating!

Best wishes for good numbers for all on this Monday.

Hi guys .. well these numbers look promising .. a nice slow drop is what we like to see .. mocha takes forever with eating as well .. and since twix can't have her food, one of us has to stand guard while she nibbles here, and nibbles there .. :YMSIGH: have a great day guys!

Re: 7/30 Shasta AMPS=256; +1.25=223; +2=185

I guess that's a benefit to having just one cat. I keep threatening her if she doesn't eat better or start playing more...I'm going to get her a kitten!!!! I find this a hilarious thought because she's been an only child all of her life, hates all people (except me...sometimes me!), and really doesn't like other animals! (<- I never thought I'd get to use that icon, but it is soooo fitting for her sometimes!)

Anyways, she will stay an only child...a very loved only child...especially as she snuggled with me this morning after her AM injection. cat_pet_icon

Have a great day, too!!

It's a very lovely slow drop indeed! At least she's eating, either all at once, or throughout the day. Simply put... She's eating, and that's always a good thing. :-D Hopefully she'll come down further for you very soon, and give you some very pretty  s. Have a good day!

Re: 7/30 Shasta AMPS=256; +1.25=223; +2=185

She has been eating! I left her a small snack while I went to go work in my classroom and she ate it!!! I put down a small snack when I got home (+9) and she turned her nose up at it...until she realized that I wasn't going to throw it out!!!

So, yes, very excited about eating! Not so excited about more hiney scooting. She is going to be in a FOUL mood tomorrow when I take her to the vet's office.

OH! And I got my food scale and pet feeder and fortiflora today! Very excited to see if she will eat out of her new feeder!!!

Wow...was really not expecting that +2! I'm guessing I had a fur shot?! grr_red

But at least she's eating!

Re: 7/30 Shasta PMPS=285; +1=296; +2=301

That's not typical of her evening numbers but not too terrible. Did you smell insulin or feel wetness on her fur? Maybe it's a bit of a bounce and not a fur shot. I wonder what the hiney scooting is about. Great news that she's eating. Phew. Does she like the fortiflora? Good luck with the feeder.

Hi Liz,

I checked while she was snuggling with me and I did smell insulin. UGH! As for her hiney, she's had to have her anal sacs emptied in the past, so I assume it's the same problem with the change in her diet. I'll call my vet first thing in the morning and see if they can fit us in. It would be nice to get that done before I go back to work on Wednesday. I just hope it's that simple. She's been eating, but she seems very sore tonight. I think it's shower time and snuggle time. Thanks for keeping an eye on us. Hopefully, I can actually get the insulin in her tomorrow!!!

Good night! ~Deborah (& sassy Shasta!)

Right, the anal glands. Zener just had his done and it made a huge difference. I have another suggestion for you. Could you include some basic info about Shasta in your signature, like diagnosis date, age, insulin usage? It helps the dosing experts see the important info about Shasta. Sweet dreams!

Liz,
Question - all in all, about how long did it take for them to empty Zener's anal sacs?

The reason I ask, I made an appointment for Shasta at 11am today (yay!) and they just called me back and said that Shasta has a note on her chart saying "Sedate for work up" (or something like that). I know she's not the sweetest cat, but the other times we've had to do this, I've had to scruff her and I swear it took all of 15 seconds. With her heart problems, I thoroughly object to this vet wanting to sedate her for anal sac emptying. :-x

I'll update my profile in just a minute to include all the fun stuff. Thanks again! ~Deborah

Zener is tough to express. H has very narrow hips and the stuff in the glands has been kind of solid in the past. But it's still less than five minutes. He is amazingly sweet about the whole thing though, just squirms around.
