Hi Everyone,

It is hot, humid, lots of showers, and Rusty is feeling it. He's sitting in front of the fan, chillaxin'. Still high from his trip to camp and the fur shot there.

Now, for my climb: It had to be aborted after we had done about 2 hours on the trail. We never got to the actual ascent: this was walking through the woods to get to the mountain. The streams one normally crosses on rocks were in flood stage and were fast-moving rapids and very tricky to cross. We crossed about 4 or 5 streams until we got to a huge rapids that was too much for us. We hadn't even gotten to the always- difficult stream crossing, so we decided that it was pointless to continue. We'll do the mountain again from a different starting point and bushwhack on unmarked trails to the summit from the other side of the mountain (no streams on that side). We met a guy coming down from the summit and he said that in the bad stream crossing he had to walk through water up to his thighs, it was so high. His boots were soaked. So we were glad we turned back. In any event, we had a challenging walk on what should have been an easy trail. And we were all covered in mud.

I've spent the afternoon making a dish for a 4th-of-July party tomorrow at our friends' camp. Their camp is water access only, so we will canoe to the cook-out. Looking forward to it.

I must spend some time this evening paying bills online, but will stop by the board at some point. I hope everyone is staying cool, dry, wet, or whatever is best for where you are. We are about to start building an ark here in the Northeast. We are grieving for those brave firefighters who lost their lives in the fire near Phoenix.

bbl,

Ella & Rusty

With all the crazy storms we've been having, I've had to get on and off the board quickly and I've missed Rusty's condo. Sorry to hear about the fur shot. I hope Rusty gets back on track soon. Hopefully the next time you try the climb, you will be successful.

I don't think I've been covered in mud since I was a kid making mud pies. ;-)
Sounds fun though.
Best not to be wading thru high fast moving waters anyway.

I'm with you on the grieving for the hotshot fire crew. absolutely tragic.

Hope Rusty gets back into his lagoonmeister status soon....

Hi Ella :-D

    On your hike! I am with you - abort when conditions tell you you should. I am glad you did. I had one like that a few summers ago - water way too high and fast, so back I went, after only a mile and a half. What you did do though sounds like a challenge, but a fun one. I bet that the next attempt will be better. It would be fun to bush-whack with a group. Good luck on your return. now... relax tonight, wash the muddy clothes tomorrow. :-D

I so hope your weather improves. It sounds so wet and nasty there. Take care, stay safe.

I remember you writing, in the past, about your friends cabin that is by water access only. it sounds like a wonderful place. Enjoy the cookout tomorrow. Fun times, and what a great way to spend the 4th.

Have a good evening. And Rusty - stay cool big guy. I am hoping for better numbers for you tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting, guys.
Rusty is coming down from his flat yellow day.
We are all tired from the heat and humidity.

Firecrackers already being set off in our street (they are illegal in NY State)! Tomorrow night will be the village's official fireworks.

Wishing you all a good evening and a Happy 4th of July,

Ella & Rusty
