Yesterday my sister invited us camping, and we decided to join! SO!! this will be Mowgli's first camping trip!! and an impromptu one at that!

We will be tenting so I am a little nervous about the possibility of Mowg escaping (He seems to be able to weasel his way out of any harness if left unattended) but I have read a couple posts in the past about tenting and I feel like we will be ok... we are only staying 2 nights and the camp site is only 40mins from our house so worst case scenario I can always come back if Mowgli isn't having the time of his life, or keeps getting out of his harness... I think he will have fun though and we won't be leaving the camp site so He wont ever be unsupervised.

We packed last night so here is my Mowgli packing list... please let me know if something very obvious is missing:
  • Insulin cooling wallet
  • Insulin
  • Syringes
  • Test Kit: test strips (+extra just in case some are compromised), lancets, cotton pads, neosporin
  • Sharps container
  • water/food bowls
  • 10x cans FF
  • MC + HC food JIC
  • liquid icing JIC
  • anchor and tie out
  • harness and leash
  • litter box w/ litter
  • garbage bags
  • litter scoop
  • puppy pads
  • paper towel
  • his favourite blankie

Any sage advice about tenting with a sugar cat welcome! fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly! Wish us luck!!

Have a Wonderful time. Hope Mowgli enjoys the great outdoors!:joyful:

Thanks Joy! I know how much you love the outdoors, I will report back on whether Mowgli is the same ;)
Oh Boy! Enjoy your trip and I'm sure we'd all love an update when you return.
Definitely! I will try and take a lot of pics too :)

Just make sure harshness is on really snug. Tags for collar. Flea and tuck control treatment before you go. Another option but more to pack is bringing one of the pop up enclosures. This way he can be a little free but still contained safely.

A few have taken their cats camping and they seem to enjoy it.I

Can't wait to hear about his adventure.

ETA don't forget the wine for yourselves.

I thought of Ollies awesome enclosure as soon as we decided to say yes to the invite! unfortunately it is too late to get one but I think that if this is a successful trip it will be worth while to get one for future camping adventures. Mowgli has a little tag with his name that also says hes diabetic and it has my number... i just realized now though that we will have to get him a new collar to wear with his harness.

GURRRRRLLLLL! as if I would :P

If you have a petsmart nearby, they have a few enclosures. If it's successful and he becomes a camper, you might think of chipping him if he isn't already.

Got an enclosure!! It’s a little small but I think it will be really good for when he needs a rest from outside. I also think I will keep the LB in there so we don’t have to leave it in the tent!
Happy camping Moe !!! Enjoy your weekend Amanda!

thanks Lyane!! We’re on our way now!!

Have fun. Keep box in enclosure and he can use it when in there and not tethered which also gives you a break cuz he is safe. Next time, disposable litter pan. You can just throw it out when you leave. And if it's more than a couple of days, use liner in box.

Should have mentioned some kind of drop cloth for under enclosure to protect it from rips. Picnic table cloth from dollar store works well. If he likes camping and you do it more often. A mini dust pan and brush to sweep up scattered litter from enclosure. Just a few things I ran to store to get when I had Ollie at motel for a week.

Drive safely. Precious cargo on board !!!!

Have a fabulous time and cannot wait to hear all about it. I am not sure if you are familiar with the Adventure Cats website but it has extremely helpful info about all kinds of outdoor adventures with cats. I am going to attach a link that is specific to their camping recommendations! A first aid kit is always good to have no matter whether indoors or outdoors.
