Because of Latte's larger drops in the a.m. cycle, this is not a number I could have comfortably shot if I was going to work today. Its a tough situation, because we all know how high she can go, too. She did not do a great job eating last night, and I woke up to her vomiting @ 4:45am. She did her normal "after vomiting" curl up with mom in bed. Within 15 minutes she got up and went to the edge of the bed to vomit again. Awfully considerate of her to not do it ON the bed! Seriously!!!

I gave her appy stim with shot and pepcid earlier than usual. Ive been feeding small bits of baby food every 15-20 minutes since shot time as well. She has eaten about 1/2 jar within the first hour. Im hoping tummy meds and appy stim will kick in before +2. That balance of getting enough food in her to prevent any large drops, but not too much food to fill her up or make her vomit is very challenging.

She made quite a mess around her LB's...not fully getting in them and spraying far....missing a good majority of pee pads. So there has been a lot of cleaning of bodily fluids already, and its not even 8am. :YMSIGH: She seems ok, otherwise. Not hunched up or looking miserable. Just hanging in the bathroom, as usual.

I think the a/b's are taking a toll on her. I will probably get some yogurt today, since she likes it. Ive never tried plain. She likes vanilla. I will get both, I guess. Just want to avoid any extra sugar that might be in the ingredients. The vet we saw yesterday was not sure if it would be a good idea to give the fortiflora or not because of the enterococcus bacteria in it (that is the a/b resistant bacteria she had in her infection). He didnt see anything wrong with the one I have and said it probably wont hurt to try. Im not really sure if he knew much about the ingredients and was just pretending :roll: . Nice guy, but not her usual vet.

One of the vet techs who's seen her through thick and thin, starting with the acute renal failure over three years ago, told me she looks good. I needed to hear that.

She likes yogurt? Wow...well, that's great then! She will like that new treat today...you certainly did get a lot of good information on it yesterday. So great to have all the experience on this board, isn't it?

Ive really done all one can do to slow that drop.
Fed higher carb food from the second she got shot until she started eating on her own. She has eaten nearly 1/2 can of wellness on top of that.
No kibble that would have led me to believe her amps had a food spike.

If I was rich, I would gladly pay someone a large sum of money to come over here and try to slow her a.m. drops.

sorry you and Latte had a messy morning. But it's nice to hear she's looking good.
She does like to be dramatic in the mornings, that's quite a drop already. I hope she paces herself more.

At this point when you're wanting to slow a drop and if Latte want's her kibble, will she eat it?

Sometimes, it is hard to be objective about our own kitties. Having someone who's seen her, especially someone who's seen her through thick and thin, tell you that she's looking good is important. When you're living with all of the issues and the worries, it's very hard to be objective. I'm glad the tech said something to you.

The kibble wont show up until she is bouncing, 4-5hrs later, making the bounce worse. I usually take it away (like I did this a.m.) and make her focus on the wet or baby food.

of course now that she is sooooo "full" from trying to front load the cycle, she doesnt want to eat. :YMSIGH:

Sorry Latte isn't feeling so great and has been giving you a stressful morning. But it is definitely uplifting to hear someone who knows her well say she looks good. Mine like the plain yogurt, but love the vanilla. It should help her deal with the AB tummy issues. I hope the drop will taper off now and that you'll have smooth sailing the rest of the day. Most people would kill for those numbers, but I know how they make it harder for you and Latte. I hope her appetite returns to help slow that drop. On the subject of yogurt, you might try some greek yogurt. Its very low in sugar and still has all the probiotics. I eat it myself with fruit and I think it tastes betters than the regular plain.

I hope things turn around soon and Latte can surf today.

It's so nice for you to have someone else take a look at Latte and say she is looking good. It is so hard for us to be objective. i hope the yogurt helps, I agrees about the greek style.

Ditto on the Greek yogurt. I put it on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (for us, not for Stu!). Hope the rest of your day is better than the early morning. Hope you can get out on your bike while Latte goes to Luna's party. The kitchen crew will watch out for her and see to it that she gets some Greek yogurt.
