I ended up going skinny on her .75u this morning. She didn't finish her food last night and she's had maybe .5oz this morning. Just not interested in any of it. :YMSIGH: I may try to break out some of her Friskies to see if that will entice her to eat. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else to do.

As far as her mood...she seems depressed. Could just be me overreacting, but she seems sad.

That isn't very much food, is it. Hmm, have you tried the pepcid? That's easy because it's over the counter. We give Zener his pills using pill pockets from Greenies. We use the duck and pea version (no sugar). Unfortunately they've stopped making the cat version but the dog version is fine. They are huge. We cut the dog ones up into eighths (equivalent to a cat one) and then that into 1/6 or 1/4 to wrap his pills in. There's no sugar but there are carbs so too much can raise his BG.

Cats get fatty liver if they don't eat so she definitely needs to eat. We know how stressful that is for the bean too. If she'll eat Friskies, then I would try that.

All in all this morning/afternoon, she probably ate ~1.5 - 2.0 oz total...maybe! I know she's hungry. As soon as I broke out my lunch (turkey & chicken), she was all up in my business! She's never been a beggar...until recently. And yes, I did feed her some which she scarfed down! I just don't understand why she's decided to hate all of this canned food that she's been happily eating for the past 2 1/2 weeks!

To ease my frustration, I steam cleaned my carpets, cooked, baked, and organized files! :YMSIGH:

Dinner was a slightly different story. I decided to open up a can of Friskies Tuna in sauce (6% carbs). I mixed a tiny forkful of the Friskies with some FF Ocean Whitefish (3%). SHE ATE IT! Well, we're down to the last tiny bit, but YAY! I'll put down a little snack soon.

I didn't know about pepcid. If things don't get better, I will go pick some up. As for pill pockets, I had only tried the Chicken pill pockets. She was great with them for about 2 weeks and then she caught on and it was "NO WAY, JOSE!"

The chicken pill pockets contain corn syrup so are high in carbs. You can always put a pill in chunk of cheese or cream cheese, chicken (cooked or raw), turkey, etc.

That is a big and fast drop for Shasta tonight. If she'll eat, I'd give her a bit more food (like a teaspoon or two of low carb) to slow things down.

If you give Pepsid, you want Pepsid AC (famotidine) -- not Pepsid complete. You give 1/4 of a 10 mg. tablet. However, does Shasta have an upset stomach or is she being picky?

I wouldn't feed her the chicken ones. She's too smart for that, anyways. She figured out what they really were and started refusing them. The trickery lasts for a week or so and then she won't even give me the time of day!

As far as I can tell, she's just being picky. She is peeing and pooping. Although, I'm not used to these new, little poops versus her big, stinky ones from when she was eating dry & wet food (Hill's m/d). Hoping that the small ones are "normal". :-|

Canned food is more like similar to what a cat would eat in the wild. When I've fed a raw diet, poops are very different -- less aromatic, less quantity, and look different because there's not all of the fillers. The more muscle meat that's in what you're feeding, the less waste for your cat's body to process.

How about feeding Shasta a bit of medium carb food. There's lots of momentum here and I think it would be good to slow things down. Just a teaspoon or two of something that's around 12% carb. If you don't have medium carb food (I don't!!), just give a teaspoon of LC and a teaspoon of HC.

Thank you for the poop clarification! Makes me feel better about Her Royal Heiny's poops! :-D

I do have a few cans of mid-carbs, but she just ate some more of her Friskies/FF combo and her numbers are already on the rise so I think I'll hold off on opening another can. I have 6 cans open in the fridge!

Speaking of tons of open cans...is it advisable to freeze unused portions of open cans? I just hate throwing away unused food.

Good! I'm glad she started to come back up.

I have cats who think all bowls need to be shiny. I don't know what to tell you about freezing food.
