Good Morning from Camp Stu,

Another hot day is beginning. Poor Rusty suffered in his thick coat yesterday, but he had good appetite and enjoyed the evening on the porch, after it cooled down. The almost-full moon was spectacular.

Yo Kitties: Friday is the Full Blue Moon. We are partying at Lake of the Ozarks and China is hosting the party. All wanting to help plan, come to Camp Stu today. After our planning session we can swim, fish, paddle, and just hang out.

Beans are having lunch today in Speculator (25 miles from camp) with an old friend of the family: my oldest sister's summer pal. She still manages to get up to the Adirondacks every summer even though she is 89 years old and almost blind.

BTS, diatomaceous earth is good for ants too as well as lots of other insects, even fleas.

Nice start for Rusty, I keep missing your condos! Glad you made it safely to camp, but triple yucko on the ants and maggots from yesterday. Talk about a Hitchcock type scenario! Borax works, so does diatonomous earth, but I recently read that cornmeal works also. It works as a bait, but it slowly starves the ants as they are unable to digest it(I'm testing this out as we speak)

What a hot day! We had a nice lunch with my sister's old friend (who is 90, not 89!). I wish my sister (who has Alzheimers) was in good mental health, but she remembers no one and nothing. Her friend really misses her: they used to correspond all the time.

When we got back to camp Rusty was stretched out on the picnic table on the porch, trying to catch a breeze. It's finally cooling off, now that the evening is here. Camp is hot because it is a 1- room cottage and has no insulation to keep out the heat (or to keep it warm in colder weather). We may go home tomorrow--a day early--if it stays this hot. I had a nice solo paddle in the cove early this morning, and swimming has been great.

bbl, it's still too hot to work at the computer.

p.s Thanks for all the ant remedies. So far the ants are gone (the ant traps worked), but we bought some Borax today, so we are prepared!

Nice blues today Rusty - lagoon tonight? Sorry about the heat - hot here too. I'm glad you got a paddle in.

Double yuck on the ants and maggots. I had ants in the kitchen this year too. I mixed some honey with the borax and put it on a piece of foil on their route (and away from Neko). They cleaned it up and took it back to the hive. And I put some diatomaceous earth where they enter the house. So far we are still ant free (antijinx).

I'm so glad you were able to see your sister and her friend- that's so sad for your sister though. My MIL has Alzheimer's, so does her sister. When we got them together this spring, they had no clue who the other was. Both are reduced to about 10 words as well, but oddly, they both recall their mother and father and want to go see them. I absolutely hate how Alzheimer's robs both the patient and their families.
