@Wendy&Neko Wow. You were 100% correct. He dropped in the blues last night and then bounced around 6am. This morning he was 425 when I checked his BS. So I gave him 5.5 L and .5 R.

I didn’t realize a “Bounce” meant more than just seeing the #s go back up. I didn’t realize it could last for 3 days! Looking at his libre graphs since 7/9/22, I wonder if he’s bounced at least 2-4 times! Geez. Those graphs are in his SS fyi in a tab called Libre Curve Pictures if you ever want to look at them.

Given what you’ve said, it sounds like he’s possibly going to be high for the next 3 days bc of the bounce? So now I am not sure what to do in meantime with R. Use it or let him be high? And watch for it to drop on the 6th cycle (and it sounds like I shouldn’t give him any R on that 6th cycle?

I cannot tell you how appreciative I am for your help. I spent the last hour looking back through the General and FAQ areas. I didn’t see a “new to the group” one. I did read some other good stuff. Like a blood ketone meter!?! What? How smart!

The Sticky Note called The Basics: New to the Group? Start here! is at the top of this forum. I highly recommend reading through all of them at some point or another.

Bouncing is extremely common in cats. If he's going to stay high for 3 days, it's OK to use R for the next couple days. I would have skipped R last night as it looked like right timing for a possible bounce breaking cycle. Which means he dropped more than 100 points after giving R. I'll keep referring to that 100 points, as we want to try to drop less than that. The blues last night would have set off a bounce anyway, but no need to compound it with a fast drop. This also means caution the night of 7/31 and not using R that night.

Note, over time, as they get more used to lower numbers, the length of time they bounce can go down.

I will read the sticky tonight.

Today he was up to 638 (with AlphaTrak meter) so I gave him 1 u R. So tonight, I did not give him .5 with Lantus. He really felt like poo when it was super high. Breaks my heart to see him miserable. We’ll see how he does over night. Fingers crossed and prayer hands!

You could have given him 1 unit R at +6 when he headed up. But at least the R when you gave it seems to have been effective and given a better PMPS number.

Agree. We weren’t home at that point. Checked him as soon as we walked in and gave to him immediately. Agree though… I should’ve made a point to be back at +6 for him. Ulgh.

ETA: 220 to 375 @+8 so I gave him TOR. It wasn’t quite a half U.
