Decided to stick it out with 1.25 U.

My civvie Brown-eyed Girl napping on a lap in the sun. What more could a kitty want?! (Besides tuna).

+4 is 73! I gave him 1 tsp of 15% carb FF with his usual 1 oz raw to help keep him over 50. He also got a pill pocket which I sure is high carb. Planning on testing again in 1 hr, unless you think I should test sooner?

Next time, you might want to try just a little of his regular low carb food to see if that's enough to stabilize him so he doesn't drop too much more but also doesn't cause him to go up too far due to the extra carbs. At this point, everything you do is adding to your knowledge of how Moondance responds to both food and insulin so there's no "right or wrong" answer.

Nice to see those greens though! You might want to try to start getting a +2 (or +3). With a lot of cats, the +2 can almost predict what's going to happen later in the cycle (for some it's the +3)

If the +2 is about the same as the PS, it's usually a fairly normal cycle...gradually down to nadir and then gradually back up to the next PS.

If the +2 is higher than the PS, that usually means he's starting to bounce and those cycles are when you can usually take a pokie break

If the +2 is lower than the PS, that's your early warning that he might be planning on dropping much lower than usual later in the cycle.

Nice cycle so far! Way to go, Moondance! Work that juice!

Thanks, Chris. This is great information. At night I usually get a +2 or +3. With these lower numbers, I can see I should try to do the same for the AM.
I will try to be brave and give his regular food a chance to work when I am not in the <50 danger zone. Since it’s practically zero carb, I was worried it wouldn’t do much (but he did get the pill pocket). I guess you never know until you try :). And as long as I test frequently I can keep him safe.

He is adorable (I have a special place in my heart for yellow tabbies....my first kitten was one and they are such great cats!)

Hey Moondance! You really need to learn to chill....LOL
