Bell is back! I sincerely appreciate everyone's kind words and vines yesterday.

The vet said it went well. Dropped her off at 7:30 this morning and had her back by 10:30. We'll see about tonight, but her BG didn't get as sky high as I expected. She did have one of her bottom right teeth removed, which didn't surprise me. Here's the vet's note:

She said the rest of the xray looked really good.

Bell was also good when she got back. A little restless and loopy, but nothing like she was on the Zorbium. Wendy, I saw your note about baby food, but she is actually now eating just fine, thank goodness. I've fed her maybe 3 or 4 small meals of her normal fancy feast when she got back. Blair is the one not eating because she is too busy hissing at Bell πŸ™„. We'll see how the next day goes if she has any inflammation. I'm anxious to get a full dose of insulin in her tonight. Back to building up the 4.25 unit depot.

All in all, it went fine. The expense of these dentals has skyrocketed since the last time. They now require bloodwork before since she is older and an FeLV/FIV test. All in all set me back around $900. Round 2 tomorrow 😬. Any thoughts on when I can start brushing Bell's teeth again? The vet thought I should hold off until the weekend.

I keep my vet's receipts/notes in a filing cabinet. Blair thinks there is a cat that lives in there. She is obsessed with me leaving the filing cabinet open because she can smell the vet from the receipts. Here she is keeping an eye on the filing cabinet cat AND this new strange cat that is roaming around the apt (aka Bell).

Chsi had a dental and one extraction almost a month ago too. Every time one of mine needs one I think of a receptionist at my vet (may she rest in peace) that told me to get ready to rob a bank! The cost has more than doubled. aI gave Chai bupe for two days but she was fine and I stopped. I think she felt better immediately or maybe she just hid it well.

Thanks Elise. I hope Chai is all recovered. Bell has done surprisingly well with her extractions - I wonder if getting those bad teeth out is a relief.

It is unbelievable how expensive it has gotten. There’s no way the average pet owner has the ability to drop a $1000 on a regular basis. I’m determined to keep up the teeth brushing to delay the next one for as long as I can.

I used to brush one of my cats teeth. The ones I have now, probably wouldnt tolerate it. Karamelle might, but I do so much to her already I havent tried it. I feed her dental chews. No idea if they work.
Im glad Bell made it thru her dental ok and is eating! πŸ’š πŸ’š πŸƒπŸƒ

So glad to see your update Seth? Sending Bell loads of recovery vines and fast healing wishesπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€
She’s such a good girl. I know you are spoiling her and giving her many gentle kisses.
Sending more to add on 😘

And wishing an easy time for Blair tomorrow πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I would wait a few days on the brushing like suggested to you. Bell may be on some good meds right now. Did you get sent any meds home with you?

Happy to hear she is eating.

Typically with any anesthesia they want bloods done within the last 3 months. To check kidneys to see if they have to do something different (extra fluids) during the procedure. The FeLV/FIV for an indoor only cat, especially if tested previously, seems a bit much.

She got sent home with 3 days worth of Onsior. I also have gabapentin that I give her twice a day for her back. I’ll keep an eye on her pain levels/appetite in the next few days. She just peed and is zoomieing around the place
