Another difficult eating day. We have an appointment scheduled for Friday to reassess and see what else we can try to make things more manageable. Besides the finickyness, he was in a good mood today calling out to Flare and watching him run around. It's just as if there is a cap to the meal size that he can handle at once.

As much as I love him and would be devastated without him, I sometimes feel really frustrated with how much energy goes into taking care of him and how much easier things could be. I feel guilty for thinking that way but I guess that is a common caregiver experience. I just need to work on accepting that I can't control the outcomes, the lower eating days or higher number days aren't a personal failure, and just enjoy our moments together.

Sorry for the mini therapy session here 🤣 In positive news, I have only 2 weeks until my last class and I will be done with school forever. It's been a longgg 2 years.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

I hope that Friday’s appointment gives you some good things to try. You are an amazing caregiver and Xander is so lucky to have you.

I think accepting that there are things outside of our control is the hardest part of FD. But I try to see it as a good life lesson Moonie is teaching me.. somewhat unsuccessfully but she has a very stubborn student!

Also congrats on almost being done with school forever!! That’s a huge accomplishment.

I appreciate reading these honest and genuine posts. I completely understand what you mean...

By any chance, have you ever tried giving Xander beta-glucan (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)?

Besides being great for supporting the immune system and helping with possible inflammation (sometimes even hidden ones), I've noticed a real improvement in appetite, energy, and overall vitality here. Maybe it's something you could discuss with your vet. It might be an option worth considering. Just an idea.

Congratulations on your huge accomplishment of completing your program and being done with school forever! Hooray. 🎉

You do such a wonderful job with Xander, and it’s tough. No doubt about it. And you know you can vent here and be understood by like minded people going through similar struggles 🫂
All we can do is take it day by day and do the best we can. Xander is really doing so well, thanks to you.
But you must try to take care of yourself as well Albert.
Try to get as much rest and recovery as you can. It’s a real rough ride and caregiver burnout is real.
Don’t feel guilty. Your dedication is deep. And your cats benefit from your love.
Sending you many healing vibes and hugs of support and strength 🫂😻💞

Hang in there, Albert. I totally relate to those feelings. I am trying to focus on the things I can do with the limits of being a caregiver and trying hard not to dwell on the things I can't right now. But it is hard and I struggle with it a lot. Bell not eating is the single hardest thing for me to deal with mentally. Hang in there.

I watched this movie a few months ago - it is about a mother caring for a daughter who refuses to eat and boy-o-boy did I relate to it 😂
If I Had Legs I'd Kick You

Very surprising dip into the 50s tonight considering he didn't eat that far off from usual. Doesn't make any sense 🤷‍♂️ I gave some gravy, hopefully no soft poops from it like the last time
