7/28 - Cini Mini Caturday Report - Back at 1.0 ?

Hi Everyone,

This past week has been a rough one for Cini.

The monsoon season is in full swing and his asthma is taking the brunt of it. He wheezed twice in the last week even with me increasing his Flovent to 2 puffs twice a day and starting him on Terbutaline again. He's still pretty playful and is eating and using the LB regularly.

Just when I had him in the greens and thinking maybe an OTJ trial soon his BGs started creeping up. At first I thought it was due to the weather and his asthma so I upped his insulin dose to a full 0.05 units. Cini's BGs kept going up and then he started throwing yellows and pinks out and then I realized my Lantus pen was over 60 days old. I got a new one last night and gave him 0.05 units last night and a fat 0.05 units this morning.

Since his numbers are so high, should I up his dose to a full 1 unit and work my way back down again?

I would hold the dose and allow the depot to refill and then evaluate whether the dose needs to be adjusted.

Thanks Sienne. I'll hold at 0.05 units for a while and see what happens.

I'm so sorry to hear about Cini's asthma. The monsoons cause Gracie's meibomanitis to kick up a notch, too, bit it's manageable and the topical meds don't affect her BG. Poor Cini!

Hope the depot fills quickly and we see great numbers again.
