Hi MariaHe has been sneezing and has tears in his eyes for 3 days now. the vet told me it was an allergy and gave me flixotide 2 times a day. 2 days King is in blue sugar numbers. could it be the allergy?
I completely understand your disappointment. Hope King’s sneezing is due to a temporary allergy and he bounces back. Hang in there!I am completely disappointed..

Hi Maria
From what I’ve read (on google) flixotide is a glucocorticoid, that is a steroidal medication for managing immune response and inflammation related issues, allergies being one of them. Glucocorticoids can affect the blood glucose levels but in some cases it is necessary to continue taking them, if there are no better / other alternatives.
Are you giving flixotide in the pill form or in the inhaler form? How much of the course is remaining?
If the course is for a limited number of days, then maybe the blood glucose levels will go down after the medicine course is finished.
If the flixotide is a long term medicine for King, then the inhaler form of Flixotide may have a lower impact on blood glucose levels compared to the tablet form. You can check with King’s vet regarding the severity of the allergy.

Oh... 3 UTIs in a short time. That's a lot. It does seem that maybe the dental appt and allergies are causing the spike. Paws crossed Flixotide works and BS drops.
Oh..it’s a good thing that it’s a tapering dose.thanks for writing to me ❤
the medicine is a spray, so he inhales. 2 times a day for a week and then 1 time a day for a week.
I started the spray today. King's blood sugar has been rising since yesterday when he didn't take the spray.
Allergies or other issues like infections can affect sugar levels since they cause stress to the body, which in turn can release stress hormones.I wonder if the allergy could have raised his sugar..

Hopefully King will go back to greens once his allergy clears up![]()
My cat Shen was on a steroid for his skin allergy which most likely caused the diabetes. He was also very overweight, so the steroid must have been only party responsible.do you think we will go back to green? King was very good this month
