Yesterday's Condo

So here I am again, burning the midnight oil and posting my condo when everyone else is asleep! The days are so full and fly by so quickly. I never seem to have time to sit down at the computer until after dinner. Sorry. I'll really try to do better.

I know it was only 5 cycles on the fattened dose, but I really felt like it wasn't going anywhere, so tonight I bumped Cinco up to a full 1.5. Yes, I said "I" - I'm BIC tonight. DH went into Sacramento to work today, then went to dinner and a concert with a friend. I'm pretty sure I got all the insulin into the cat, even though you'd never know it by that +3!

Cinco's visit to the ophthalmologist today was great. Dr. Canton said the eye looked really good and the pressure was excellent! He had nothing to say that wasn't positive. I told him I really needed that!! :-D We go back in six weeks. I also made an appointment for Cinco at UCD Oncology. He was supposed to go back for a recheck after six weeks, but with Sasha and my foot, it's been more like 10. I would have taken him in right away if there had been any hint of a problem, of course. The first appointment they had was next Thursday, July 31.

Sasha was coughing more last night - a real chesty, congested cough. I gave her an atarax, and did the steam treatment, and neither seemed to help. I told the student that comes out to get her that I was really concerned about it, and he said he'd made a note in her file last night after we talked and would be sure to bring it up to the doctors. When he called to say she was done, he told me they took chest x-rays and the doctor wanted to talk to me about it. I was all worried, but Dr. Pfeiffer (the radiological oncologist) said her lungs were relatively clear - just the chronic asthma we already knew about. She didn't like the cough, either, so she prescribed some Clavamox. We'll see what that does. Sasha wasn't terribly hungry when I served dinner, but I suspect she'd been munching on dry food since we got home. Dr. P asked me to bring some dry food, as well as her moist, next week, as it seemed that sometimes Sasha preferred dry and they just want her to eat. I felt so badly last night because we did the steam treatment from 11:15-12:15 and then it was too late to give her anything to eat, and she was clearly hungry. She was hunting all over the bedroom for her dry food dispenser, and I was afraid she was going to try to get up to the plant shelf, which is where it used to be. I made sure she saw me carry it out of the room, so she'd know it wasn't up there. You should have seen the look on her face! Then she came downstairs and tried to get me to open the pantry door, but I wouldn't. Mean old Mama. She found a stray piece of kibble at Harvey's feeding station and made a big deal about eating it, until I tried to take it away from her - then it was gone!! She survived.

Minka had decided she doesn't like pill pockets again. Tonight I had to throw her thyroid med down her throat four times. Each time I thought it had gone down, she managed to bring it back up. The third time, I followed it with water, which I know she swallowed, and I figured we were home free. A couple minutes later she came into the kitchen as I was fixing their dinners, and deliberately spit her pill out onto the floor! :o   Little devil!! I finally got it into her, though. Mama does NOT give up!

I think I messed up my right knee, with all the crawling and hopping and knee walking I did the past month. It keeps popping now, and I get a shooting pain in it if I move a certain way. Great. Just what I need!

I'm so excited that I don't have to get up bright and early to take Sasha to UCD! Also, if she wants food, she can have it all night long! :-D

I'm praying for all the kitties and beans that are having a tough time right now - Lucy & Mariko; Dyana & J.D.; Georgia & Simon; Wendy & Tiggy; Amy's dad; Wendy's, Elise's and Chris' mothers. Zener and Liz & Anne. Elise's Aunt. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm sending many healing and comfort vines, and hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Happy birthday to our dear little Gracie, too. drinking24 I like to end on a positive note!

I'm glad you got a good report from the OV. Good luck with the dosecrease. I hope the Clavamox helps Sasha's congestion. I'm glad you finally got he pill in Minka. Why can't our kitties just eat the pill pockets? I hope your knee is okay and it's nothing serious.

Nice report from the OV! Always so much better to hear that things are normal...or at least aren't any worse!

Sure hope the knee is just irritated at all the overuse. Knee surgery is no fun at all (trust me on this..lol)

Hey Cinco....come on buddy....try harder! You're making your mamabean worry!

Good luck with the dosecrease...Hopefully the extra joos will kick in soon

Tricia we use Dr. Hansons bullseye pill gun. No mess no resistance first shot every time because it goes down the back of the cats throat fast. They are like 3 bucks.

google or bing them to find a good price. My Vet sold them for a while and I bought mine there.
