Morning and why is it when Maggie is on the high side, she seems to be feeling just great! She did give me a wake-up call a little too early, but she then went btd on the sofa in the living room, thank you Maggie. When I did get up, she was still sleeping, so I had a chance to make some coffee and wake up a bit before testing. I leave food overnight, but I know she didn't have any food within an hour and a half and probably longer, so not sure why she's so high! She was playing and running under the bed like a hide and seek game, now asleep on her favorite lounge chair by the patio, ready to awake once a critter crosses the pathway outside. Not sure what the day holds here for me, except I do want to get an early walk in before it gets too sunny and hot! I was asked by someone thru a friend if I would like a Siamese kitten. The kitten will be in foster care first and is from a shelter. With Maggie's age and illnesses, I think it might be too much for her though. The financial part, too. I'm thinking out loud here. Have a nice day everyone.

I was reminded what a kitten would be like and I immediately had my two feet back on the ground. Not sure what Maggie would think of a kitten

I wonder why she is so high. Maggie tsk tsk - maybe you need to threaten a dosecrease.

Hi Ann
Nice report, good on the playing and running around, good Maggie.
Have a nice weekend!

Yeah, kittens, so cute...but a Siamese kitten @-) and an ill cat? hmmm no. Poor Maggs

Hope she comes down today.

Re: 7/23 Maggie AMPS 199 ATrak

Morning guys. think lower Maggie. OK? You can do it!

Enjoy your morning walk. I like the mornings for walks - my fav time to go - it's so peaceful out then. have fun!

oh wow on the kitten... I too have been asked, had to really think and knew anyways the answer would be "not a good idea right now", as much as I'd love to have one.... Mine are all seniors, with Mannie at 14 being the youngest... not too sure how well a kitten would go over with them.

Re: 7/23 Maggie AMPS 199 ATrak

Come down a little bit Maggie. It is interesting that she feels good at a slightly higher number..?? And you know what... that actually is the most important thing. The whole cat. So good for you Maggie - playing hide 'n seek.

I love kittens and they sure would need/demand a lot of attention. It is hard to know whether a senior kitty would love a baby around the house or really dislike it. The Siamese factor- aren't they are known for their antics and their talkativeness? Could be fun for you - or could be time for the loony bin. ohmygod_smile

Well if Maggie is anything like Do Lou he is not too crazy about kittens here when they sneak into our room for a boy who cannot see he is on to them right quick and gives me that Mom please remove them now he has not always been that way he used to be a big ole nursemaid but I think his loss of sight changed him a lot so best to you on your thoughts on a kitten they do keep you busy take it from one who has kittens underfoot about once a year here and more then one at a time    hope Maggie comes down for you today

Hi Karrie, I had to laugh with the two feet on the ground. Maggie did come down a little at the +3. I went for my walk and ran into a friend/neighbor, and so I spent more time talking than walking, but I did get in my walk, and I also got to visit with my friend.

Hi Ronnie & Luna, yes, she's pretty perky in the mornings. Have a nice weekend, too!

Hi Natalia, I agree, not a good combination for Maggie. It would take too much attention away from her.

Hi Michelle, I, too, love the mornings for a walk. Yes, agree; if Maggie were much younger and not ill, things would be different.

Hi CD, , yes the Siamese are very talkative. My GA was a boy Siamese, and he could be quite yappy at times! I had to laugh with "it could be fun or could be time for the looney bin." Yes, the important thing is how she's feeling.

Hi Lisa, it's interesting to get your thoughts, as I know you have so much experience. It's interesting to hear of Do Lou's reactions, too, as a senior kitty. I think I have my mind made up that it's a nice thought but not a good idea where Maggie is concerned. She will remain as the only diva kitty here.

Sorry Maggie was so high this morning but nice to see her coming down during the day; but Maggie...back down you go tonight. That is funny how she plays more when her numbers are a little higher.

Kitten? You know we got Tobey last year when Teddi and Gus were 14 and 15. Teddi just pummeled the heck out of him so he learned to respect her. We had to teach him to be nice with Gus who has arthritis. When he approached Gus, we'd say "Be sweet to Gussie, Tobey". And he quickly learned just to rub up against him and headbutt him. Really the one who had the hardest adjustment was GRACIE!!! The youngest!! Now they are best friends, he and Teddi also play and he is careful around her, and he is still sweet to Gussie. Kittens do take a lot of energy because they have so much. But I wouldn't trade getting Tobey for anything. He's the best! Good luck with your decision.

Hi!! Mags is coming down today--I feel that some senior kitties with health problems would have a possible hard time with a rambuncous kitten---
Moonie has been very happy as a one kitty Cat! She gets the attention she deserves-
Believe me, everyone has asked me to take another cat(always a kitten)--I say No way right now--I want to give her the best quality time for how ever long she will be with us.
I'm sure you know your cat and will make the right decision-
Some Senior cats do Great with a new kitty!--
See how you & Maggie feel...Hugs & lub from us!

Hi Ann,
So neat to hear that Maggie is enjoying life and playing so well. I tend to agree with the others that a kitten might not be the best thing for your household right now. Rusty's neighbor, "Shadow", is still a kitten--an adolescent. And he has a ton of energy and wants Rusty to chase and play. but Rusty will have none of it and is doing a good job of "benevolently ignoring" the kitten. I do think he enjoys the stimulus, however. But if Shadow came to live here it would be a very different story. I think you have to take Maggie's personality into consideration as well as her age and health issues.

Maggie, let's see some lower numbers tonight, OK?

Hi Marje, she is starting to come down and I'm hoping this will last and no ups and downs. It seems like Tobey just fit in perfectly with your family after some teaching and coaching; so cute the way Tobey and Gracie are so close and two peas in a pod.

Hi Roni, thanks for stopping by and for your thoughts on a kitten. Moonie seems to have adapted wonderfully after some time passed. I see your point here, too. A kitten really would take up a lot of time, and there would need to be a lot of safety measures taken here with a kitten.

Thanks Ella & Rusty for your thoughts, and almost everyone here seems to agree. It is so nice to come here and get others views. I see how Rusty handles Shadow, probably nice sometimes to see Shadow but better to see him go home. After thinking it over, I think a baby would be too much for Maggie to handle and would upset her. Mags is playful but only when she's ready, not an all the time thing.
