Hello LL!
Eddie sure is giving me a run for my money the last couple days. Thanks Sienne and Wendy for the guidance on whether to hold or reduce after last night's visit to the 30's. I did reduce to 2.25u this morning. Given how fast he's bounce clearing, I didn't dare attempt to shoot through the bounce. Eddie started a bounce by +8 last night, and I was not surprised by the stinky pinky for AMPS this morning. By +2.5, however, it looked like he was going to blast down off the pink floor. I fed extra foods for second breakfast, and set the auto feeder with a little-higher-than-normal low carb for +4 and +5. In the past, usually, when he's cleared a glucose spike, he still has a relatively high flat cycle - I'm assuming due to the presence of counter-regulatory hormones. Not today, though. At +6, he was at 129. Before I left to go back to work, I checked again about 1/2 hour after he ate some 8% - 2 Tbsp. rather than his normal lunchtime snack of 1 Tbsp. to try to see what his plans were. He was at 114. It's within meter variance, but for safety's sake, I made the assumption that he was still headed down and opened up the auto-feeders to allow free-feeding access to some left-overs of about 2 Tbsp. It remains to be seen whether this drop will set up another bounce, or whether he'll just keep sliding (hopefully not too low) down towards PMPS. Often times when he's bounce clearing off of a number in the 300's, he has a late nadir. Even though Eddie bounced from the low numbers and/or early drop last night, he's clearing in record time. Short-lived glucose spikes don't drive me nearly as batty as the high flat cycles that don't budge, which I assume are due to the presence of counter-regulatory hormones setting up temporary insulin resistance. Did I break Eddie's trampoline or something?!
Have a good day and vines and prayers to all who need them today!
