Morning Summer, I hope you see some more blue and green today, how's mom feeling
Had to call the ambulance for my Mom this morning. She was really confused, had slurry speech and could not walk with her walker. She just stood there and almost feel backward. She couldn't move her feet forward and was in a daze. I had her do all the "stroke test" and she did okay with all but the speech so I didn't think she had a stroke. I had to lie her on the carpet because she couldn't walk forward. The EMTs came and took her to the hospital. They just discharged her with a diagnosis of low blood pressure and dehydration. I know there is more to this. I think one of the medicines she got yesterday for pain caused some serious side effects. I have never seen her so disoriented before. Anyway, I fixed her some lunch and I'm sure she will go in soon and sleep for several hours. I am actually grateful Susie had an off day today. I couldn't have dealt with low blood sugar too. Thank you very much for asking about my Mom.

Many prayers for your mom. FWIW, this happened to my mom several times and it was always the same…..she got dehydrated and then her BP dropped. She got dizzy and disoriented. In talking to her doctor, this is common in older people who don’t want to drink as much as they should because then they have to go to the toilet more which, if they can do it alone, increases their chance for a fall. They definitely don’t want to get up at night and chance a fall.

Oh Summer I'm so sorry, yes it could have been a reaction to the med, what did they give her
They gave her hydrocodone which she has been on many times before. Really made no difference in her pain level and she has never had a problem with it. But they also gave Cyclobezaprine, a muscle relaxant, and I believe she took too many of them. She was only supposed to take 3 in a 24 hour period but, according to my counting her pills, she had 4 in 17 hours. She is still screwed up but nothing like she was this morning and she ate well tonight. I just want both of these meds out of her system but the Tylenol is not going to take care of her pain. I'm tired. Thanks for all of your concerns. Praying Susie will stay high tonight so I don't have to worry about her too.

Thanks, Marje. This incident went much further than just being dehydrated and a low blood pressure. I'm pretty sure she took too much of a muscle relaxant and it sent her into the ozone. Praying that tomorrow she will be better. I took away the muscle relaxant and buried (hid) her hydrocodone. Gave her Tylenol, Extra Strength, and will hope she can just go to sleep on this. She is drinking more water now. Fingers crossed, when we both get up, she will be better.

I understand. We fought that hydrocodone issue as well. Best of luck and many prayers.
