The weekend was messed up as far as shot times go. I had to be at a full-day convention an hour out of town for Fri/Sat/Sun and the first morning Papaya gave me a number I was reluctant to shoot without being able to monitor so I stalled until just about out the door. This meant all the shots were closer to leaving-time than I liked, but she has recently decided to eat food I leave out so I was less worried. I just don't know when she eats it - early? late? just before I get home and test? It turned into more of a 11/13 hour shooting schedule but now I'm back to normal, though I have to work the shot times back to the appropriate early hour.
Last night we had a major thunderstorm. Thunder is very loud here on the flat prairies, but this was spectacular even for here. After one long overhead burst of thunder I heard the weirdest loud buzzing, and some noise from the back lane. I ran out with camera and phone to see what was going on - a transformer exploded and there was a live wire putting on a fireworks show, and a house across the alley in smoke. So in the ensuing commotion of emergency response I didn't get a BG test until +4 last night and Papaya was down to 53.
I was worried we were going to have to evacuate since they didn't seem to be able to get the power off and there kept being big pops and flashes of light from the lane, plus the smoke from the house! I had cat food and diabetes stuff in a bag by the door ready to go - BUT my garage was blocked by firetrucks and I don't think they would have let me into it to get the cat carrier. Lesson learned: keep carrier inside, closer to the cat, so you can have it immediately if you need to leave the house immediately!
Here's a pic of the live wire . . . [img=[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/ehmeelu/9340318252/]
