These bounce clearing cycles drove me crazy as they can lead to another bounce. Looks like he’s leveling out. Food seems to be helping. Did you feed at +3? I would have.

I started feeding at +3.5 when he hit 115. Then more when he hit green. At +5 he is now 67 and just fed him some more. Keeping it LC at this point. Do you start giving him more than LC at 60 or let it get down to 50 if he goes that low. I don't want to stop the green hard if I don't need to. I would like advice about feeding because I didn't want to stop him too soon. Thanks

When to start mc depends on when in the cycle the bg is getting lower. If early in the cycle I’d add a little higher lc or mc as a snack. If close to nadir stick with lc. As for hc I waited until under 50 unless very early, +2-4. But I still would try mc first. I think Mac is sensitive to carbs and the food you feed is so low that even higher lc might be enough to prevent him dropping under 40. Since he’s come out of remission under 40 would be the reduction bg.

Thanks Elise! That helps. I know he will bounce for a few days now but it was nice to see some lower greens. not sure what that means but it's better than blacks.

Definitely better. He just needs to learn to feel better in normal bg again. I think it will happen. You can see the improvement by scanning the ss and seeing the changes to more and more blue and now green.

Oops thought he was surfing and didn't check for 1 hr. He is now 54. giving him MC and some HC.

Mc probably would be enough. Check in 30 minutes from last test.
He dropped to 47 and now back to 52 10 minutes later and unfortunately I am supposed to leave in 30 minutes. I did give Karo for that reason. I might have to cancel plans..

You dint want to leave him until 2 hours without Karo ideally. Can you move up the plans? If clearly bouncing you might be able to leave sooner but Karo leaves the body faster than hc food so check in 15-20 minutes again tops.

He did get up to 112. And will keep checking every 10 minutes. How long does it take for HC syrup to wear off? I did give him a HC treat too which should take longer to get into his system and keep it up. Just trying to decide if I will be leaving or not. Thanks

Karo wears off pretty quickly but the food not so much. It’s the end of the cycle. How long will you be gone?

If he stays up you could give lots of treats and he should be fine. Looks like he went down to 86 after the 112 which is pretty much within meter variance.

112 was after 86 and now he is 129. Gave him a bit more syrup and will give him a couple of pill pockets

Looks like he will be fine. You can also leave out some treats and food when you leave.
Thanks for your help Elise! He did well while I was gone. He was 330 at PMPS and I gave him is normal 2.25 U shot.

I could have finessed it more this afternoon if I hadn't needed to leave. I didn't expect him to stay green and go low so late into the cycle. Lesson learned!

With fd it’s expect the unexpected. When you need to leave it’s often the it happens. . :banghead: Max gave me his first green preshot when my mom was being admitted to the hospital and I had to skip.
