Karamelle still isnt eating. Couldnt syr the ID food the vet gave me. They told me it was diabetic friendly but i dont think it is. Need to look up the carbs on it. I gave her 2 finger full of it last night. I syringe fed the Weruva but gave her less, only about 18 calories. Im praying she keeps it down. I will feed often, small amounts, throughout the day. They told me to put her on a bland diet for a few days. Suggested either the food they gave me or some boiled chicken. Not sure if I will try that. The Weruva seems pretty bland to me.

These are the ingredients: Chicken, Chicken Broth, Natural Flavor, Sunflower Oil, Xanthan gum, Locust Bean Gum, Tricalcium Phosphate, Potato Starch, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Niacin Supplement (Vitamin B3), Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Potassium Iodide

They told me to bring her back if she doesnt eat but she was there for hours last night and they barely did anything.
Last night I gave her (per ER vet) 150mls of fluids. I guess i will try and give her more today at some point. I suppose she might need an ultrasound.

Im tired. Got about 3 hours sleep.

OMG I just looked up the food they gave me and its listed at 25% dry matter, so a lot higher as fed. I specifically asked if it was ok for diabetics and they said it was. So useless these people are.
Also forgot to mention that a lot of stuff that went on last night is in my thread from yesterday. Link at top.

Still syringe feeding Weruva but Im giving her smaller meals closer together. She hasnt thrown up yet today. I hope havent jinxed her. Also something really weird is her poo looks and smells like the food Im syringing with a slight poo odor. She on a probiotic now.

Jo I am so sorry you’re having problems with Karamellas tummy. I know how hard that is. I’m going through sick tummy troubles with Tiger now too. Weird how these 2 mimic one another a lot.
I hope she feels better quickly. Is Weruva something she normally eats? I ask because it’s not something normally eats but I’ve been giving it because of his tooth extractions. I can’t know for sure but I wonder if it was too rich for him cause he’s not used to it. It was the gravy ones and looked rich. Who know…
Sorry she is going through this, hugs.

Thanks Deb. :bighug: Its weird how Tiger and Karamelle are experiencing similar things. As far as the Weruva, I use the pates. One is called Press your Dinner, the is Jeopurrdy Licious. They are both chicken. I've tried lots of others but these two are one that my cats will eat continually. I don't see anything in the ingredients that looks rich.

The catinfo website food chart lists i/d as 30%. Hardly friendly for diabetics.. As an alternative to Weruva that is really plain food is all meat baby food. Beechnut or Gerbers make some that basically just meat and water.

Some cats don't do well with cat food with gums in it.

One thing to be aware of - it's best to syringe foods that aren't what they normally eat. Otherwise they can develop food aversion. I fostered a hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver) kitty that went completely off anything with chicken in it as a result of a few weeks of syringe feeding.

What probiotic is she getting now?

She does sometimes eat the Weruva. I thought about that, but knew she would eat this with the syringe rather than spit it out. She normally eats Freeze-dried raw rabbit and pork. I was going to try some other meats when this happened.
I will get some meat babyfood to switch up what Im feeding her.
She hasnt thrown up today, crossing all fingers and toes. Ive been feeding her less at a time and more often, but I still only got 179 calories in her. its not enough for her weight, but I think it will keep her from having liver issues. The probiotic is Nexabiotic. The ER vet wanted to give me Forta Flora and I said no thanks I have a better one at home.
