This is odd that his AMPS is 401. He didn't eat anything all night long! No snacks, no nothing! I'll retake BG at +2.

Can anyone explain this?

At what point should he be peeing less? He is negative for keytones as I test 1x a week.

Also, while he was eating I was giving his shot and he moved! I rubbed the site and felt some fluid. I also smelled the insulin on my hand so I don't think he got the full injection!

I’m not sure about the high preshot. Since there are no tests on the spreadsheet for last night, we can’t tell if perhaps he dropped a little lower than his body is used to and started a bounce. I don’t think it would have been anything other than a yellow though. So it’s hard to say what’s going on. If you get a few tests in today then we may get a few more clues.

Your ss looks typical of many cats. Why didn’t he eat anything last night? I guess a better question is when did he last eat after dinner? You are seeing nadirs under 300 so after 7 days you can increase to 3.75 unless you see blue or green.

He ate his evening meal at 8:45p, but had nothing after that! It's difficult to get BG's after his shot in the evenings.

I updated his SS, It's difficult to get BG's after his shot in the evenings.

Do you leave food out to free feed and he just didn’t eat?
Cannot free feed with 7 cats unless I feed Purina Naturals *high carb* food. To free feed would mean allowing all 7 cats to eat $$$ low carb food and my budget cannot handle that!

|+2.5-411| Could his BG be elevated more since AMPS reading due to him moving during the shot and not getting 100% of the injection?

Did you smell Lantus on him or see some on him? Why do you think he didn't get all of his shot? If so, please put FS beside the units, so we know it was a fur shot of some kind.

That higher +2.5 could also mean he is bouncing due to seeing numbers lower last night than he is used to. What are the issues with getting a second test at night? Maybe we can think of something to help you out there. Many (probably most) cats go lower at night. We determine how to dose based on how low they go, so getting a hint of what he's doing at night will help us figure out what he's doing at night.

Per my earlier response about this being a possible bounce and getting some more clues today from tests, it is starting to look like a bounce from dropping lower than he is used to last night.

Maybe but without any tests last night I don’t know for sure but as Wendy said likely. . Even a +2-3 would be helpful. It doesn’t have to be mid cycle right now.
