Good morning!

Well, Emma kept me up for quite a while last night...definitely got down into the green again! Here's how the evening went:

It was a little scary poking her ears by +5 for me....the eyes were pretty fuzzy, and I nearly used a ball point pen instead of the lancing device once :shock:

I watched her eat for a while: she ate about 1/4 of what I put down right when I feed her, then she went back to it every 1-1/2 hours. There was still food in her dish this morning. I think her appetite is getting back to where it was before it increased so much back in June. I'll have to adjust how much I put down for her. So, if Sienne reads this - is this ok to let her eat on that type of schedule, where she kind of spreads it out on her own?

Congrats on more greens! Emma's looking good.

I'm sure Sienne will stop by and comment, but I can say it sounds like Emma spaces out her meals a little like my Kasha does... She just goes back every hour or couple of hours. Often, lately, if I notice her eating a lot sooner than I'd expect, or if she's spending more time eating at one time - I can usually test her and find her numbers are dropping... Which is reassuring - to know that she's working on regulating her own BG with food makes me a lot more comfortable leaving her alone when I'm at work, etc. Hopefully, you'll notice something similar with Emma at some point- it's a good feeling to know they can kind of try to regulate themselves, keep themselves from going too low when you're not around...

Emma is doing really well. So nice that she spreads the meals out on her own, Tess prefers to be waited on hand and foot and have everything hand delivered to her. :roll:

You just described nighttime Kasha... funny how she feeds herself during the day and yet, at night, I'm up at 3:00 am bringing her a snack in bed (my bed!)...

Silly Kasha and Tess!

Actually Emma would probably be the same way if she didn't have to worry about being slobbered on by a couple of dogs. I think she enjoys the nighttime by herself in the living room while everyone else is upstairs. She gets lots of dog kisses during the day, and doesn't always look too happy about it!

Tonight's PMPS 269...a lot like last night, so we'll see how she does!

You can feed a couple tsp of low carb food here and test in 30 minutes to see where she's going.

Very nice cycle last night and it looks like a repeat for tonight.

When I put down food for my guys, I don't pick it up. If they don't eat the serving I put out immediately, I think it's fine if they go back and graze. If Emma goes back to her bowl, it hopefully tells you that she'll feed herself if her numbers are dropping when you're not home. Also, it's no surprise that her appetite is decreasing as Emma's getting better regulated.

And thanks for the input Sienne! I was hoping her eating schedule was ok...I'm not really sure how I'd adjust it. I've tried many times to get her more into a regular meal schedule and I've never been successful.

Ok Sienne - I will!

She's gone back to her dish twice since I fed her at +4...she doesn't usually get too much FF food, and that's what I broke open for her to make sure she ate it. I added a little of it to her Wellness chicken, and apparently that tastes really good now!

Just got a test at about +5.25, and she's at 112, so I think I'm going to go to bed!
