Doing my best to get some weight back on her, and she's eating a LOT. The methinazole gel really isn't working well, so I switched to the pill, and thanks to cerenea, she's doing fine on it.
Her hct was 23, a couple weeks ago, and that's kinda low, so I'll start epoegen when she hits 20.

Not happy with the weight loss - 1/2 to 1 lb gone. That puts her at 7 to 7 1/2 lbs. Her best weight is 11 lbs so this is alarming.

She's eating very well with me, but didn't do so well with the Pet Sittter.

Kathy, Elmo has been on oral methimazole for almost 2 years and we’ve had no problems with his stomach. Homeopathic vet has me give Nux Vomica 30c 3x a week to help his body rid itself of any residual toxins from the methimazole as well as SEB 2x a day . Elmo lost 2 lbs back when first started the meds and it is a challenge to get and keep it on . All that said to say you are doing an awesome job juggling several health situations at once . You are a wonderful bean to sweet Titi ❤️

Good plan going back to 2.0 units. Hopefully she'll gain weight back now that you are home.:bighug:

My kitty Charles, was on the methimazole pill for 10 years and he did well with it. He was always skinny, but he had a happy life. (my daughter also takes methimazole)

I am sure TiTi is happy you are home. Maybe that will be the key to putting on some more weight.

Just remember the weight didn't come off all at one time so it isn't going to come back all at one time. Slow and steady wins the race.

How happy was she to see you? I bet she missed you something terrible :bighug::)

Can you post the potassium pill you give? Either a link or the exact name? Where do you get it? I have to do something to get potassium into Gizmo :banghead::mad:.

I think the oral methimazole will help, too. After 5 weeks on the gel, she had almost no improvement at all.
I really lucked out on the 2U for my petsitter, Nicky. My first test showed 139, and then straight to lime when I increased by a measly .25U. She seems to have stabilized on 2u while I was away.

She's been eating a lot of food. Like yesterday she ate two 5oz cans and more. What she does is eat a lot and then meow to me for more, so I keep feeding her all day, or from eve till bedtime. Yesterday she ate steadily from 10am to 11pm, and then fell asleep for the whole night. She's eating a lot today, too, though not as much as yesterday - hard to see how she could eat like that two days in a row. I'm glad I was only away for 5 full days, and 2 travel days.

She may have been eating less than normal because you were away.

I always let my hyperthyroid kitties eat as much as they wanted to. My daughter, before she was diagnosed, would wake up in the middle of the night to eat. I couldn't believe how much food she could put away. - it should have been a huge indicator for me, but yet we went years without knowing the issue and so many doctors.

RenaPlus - potassium gluconate - pill form. It's an a prescription. However, you can get it online. You just need to know how much Gizmo needs, and your vet can give you that info'. It's a med to be very careful with use. Too much can damage the heart, and so can too little. It does make a big difference in quality of life.

Oh rats. 66@PMPS, and I was up most of last night, so I'll be falling asleep really soon. I think it best to do a skip shot. If this was AMPS, I'd shoot it, but not tonight.

Perfect! Is this it?

How big are the pills? I am going to talk with the IM about it. I need something that I can shove down his throat - he won't take it any other way. The Pottsa-chews are hit/miss getting him to eat them. I know he is low - he has been low for years. I do notice that after fluids (which has pot) he does feel much better

Not that big - they are round and white, so I stick them into a gel cap.
