I know my decreasing Pumbaa's dose due to thinking that he was getting too much insulin instead of too little was very controversial, even though no one posted anything like that. I just know, since I had asked for input and the silence was pretty much deafening.

That's okay. I only want to do what is right for my little guy, and that doesn't mean sticking with any protocol. It means listening to the insight of others who have gone through similar BG readings and reactions, and looking back on your cat's data to see what you would have changed, after the fact. As Mel would say, it is learning to dance your particular cat's dance.

So, Pumbaa had a blue @ AM +6. I was thankful about that! I'm going to test him soon to see where he is going tonight. Up or down.

The dose reduction looks like it just might be the ticket for Pumbaa! Sorry I missed the deafening silence, I just haven't been around too much lately, life has been so busy right now I don't get here as much as I would like. You know as the old saying goes..."Trying to make hay while the sun shines"

Right now DH & I are having to roll out of bed at 4:45am, to get him to work by 6am, plus we are like the rest of the US it seems in the grips of an ungodly heat wave, so since he is a roofer and has to be on a blazing hot roof for sometimes up to 10 hours a day, I have taken up trying to do a lot of the yard work as well as the critters and the housework. So by the time we test, feed, & shoot Autumn, as well as feed the rest of the critters and eat ourselves I'm so dang tired that I'm not sure I even remember my name by 9pm...lol.

Going forward the reduction is looking good, remember that at first you will still have some of the shed in effect as it drains back down to the new dose (3-5 days just like filling it) and he is probably going to bounce some as well when he hits those blues for awhile until his liver figures it out. Plus he seems to be just one of those cats that needs a longer period of time to settle into a dose...So if you can keep all those things in mind and order several new pairs of patience pants you should do just great!

Hey it took me a week of shooting the same dose with Autumn recently to figure out that I had missed a low for her that would have called for a dose reduction. See told you I was tired... ohmygod_smile So just last night I caught on and reduced her dose as well.

I also figure Rebound is one of those subjects much like Ghosts...it is only conterversal until you see one with your own eyes. ;-)

Good luck with your trial Suze! Hope it works for Pumbaa.
I'd like to share with you, Ive recently pushed up Rosy's shooting time by 3 hrs. Ive skipped a shot to brought in the change in schedule. All of a sudden, she's giving me all the green numbers. :o You'll never know what a change will bring. Good luck!

Mel, from your keyboard to God's ear about this dose reduction breaking Pumbaa of that repetitive dive/bounce/stay high and flat cycle he was in! It will also be interesting to see if not massaging the injection site anymore has any impact.

Love your comparison of rebounds and ghosts. *LOL* I've never seen a ghost, but I'm open-minded enough to entertain the possibility that they exist, as I have experienced some very strange things in my lifetime.

No need to apologize for not being around...I know how busy you are! I hope that heatwave breaks soon. I don't know how Jon manages to work 10 hours in the blazing sun like that, and I feel for you doing yardwork in this heat. You're having Arizona temperatures again this summer. :(

Pumbaa is already bouncing this morning, but at least he hasn't hit a red so far. Fingers crossed and patience pants on.

I check Autumn's SS frequently, just to see how the little gal is doing. Hope she's getting along better with your other kitties, and realizes that she could have other kitty friends instead of just having a drooler friend.

Helen, I just sent a request via Google Drive so I can take a look at Rosy's SS again.

That is great news about her being in the green! Amazing that a skipped shot, or even the injection time change, can do something good like that!

Now that poses an interesting question. I think many of us have shooting schedules that fit with our daily schedules/lives, but I wonder if injection times have any effect on overall performance of the insulins.

Thank you for the good luck wish for Pumbaa...and good luck with Rosy, too! I hope she stays down in the beautiful greens!
